Default Help me decide my next Blu purchase

I have some money left over from my birthday and have some titles in mind but am not sure what the best bang for my buck move is. So I leave it to you, the professionals, to give me some guideance.

Option one - Individual titles. Right now, Apollo 13, American Grafitti and saving money for Jaws and ET lead the pack in this choice. Also considering getting the TCM doc Movie Stars and Moguls, but that's not a Blu.

Option two - The big box buy. One title, either Ten Commandments or Ben-Hur would be the most likely candidate here.

Option three - Saving for the Universal Monster Box. This is the continued holding pattern, at least until I see a price point from Universal on the Monsters. If reasonable, I just wait for the release.

Whats the best bang for my buck move? Suggestions begin... Now.

You should buy than Nolan boxset at Bestbuy. It's only 29.99 and you get Batman begins, The dark knight, Insomnia, inception, memento. Or the movie 21 jumpstreet is so funny!

Maybe I should rephrase. While I like the suggestions I'm getting, I have three options. Not looking for new ones. Thanks though.

The Ben-Hur box is nice. E.T. and Jaws will likely come down in price later. The most bang for your buck is usually to wait.

Option one looks the most appealing to me personally. The prices for options two and three seem like less bang for your bucks.

OP: Have you seen all of those movies or are they blind buys?

I am thinking Option 2. Ben Hur and Ten Commandments are amazing movies and the transfers are top notch.

The Universal Monsters to me is where it's at, so if I were in your shoes and made the choices you did, I would bank the money and wait for that boxset to come out. That is some first class horror films right there! I am ALL OVER this once this blu ray set comes out, lock, stock, and barrel....

Option 1 are all movies I've seen except for the TCM doc. I'm a sucker for docs on Hollywood history (MGM: When the Lion Roars remaining the best, wish Universal were doing one for their 100th, but I digress), and that would seem to fit the bill. Only seen a TV airing of Ten Commandments, never seen the silent, nevere seen Ben-Hur at all.

Truth be told, for most movie shopping for me these days, I defer to the AFI 100 lists of several years ago. If it made the lists, chances are I'll enjoy it and be a more informed and well rounded cinemaphile for it. Only been wrong once and that was Blue Velvet. Didn't like it turned it off after 5 minutes. Fortunately was a cable viewing, so nothing lost.

single titles or combo packs like anthologies (as long as they ahve their own case) so whichever options fit that, get those. i personally am not a fan of box sets liek that charriot racing one, forget the title. i like my bd in a box w/ cover art, and that is sufficient for me

Almost always, the best bang for the buck is found with concert movies (due to their good replay factor). Like the R&R Hall of Fame box. Insane amount of music in there too.

The Ben Hur box is nice, but may I suggest another box to consider also ? Specifically, another box which has a good "bang for your buck" factor - The Wizard of Oz (Emerald Edition, don't spend more for the gonzo box even if you can find it).

Got lucky and got the big boxes for Oz and GWTW last year, so good on those.

I'd definitely go with option 2 if you have not seen them. Both are great classics and are a great addition to any collection.
