Blu-ray Samurai

Hey guys,
So with it being Thanksgiving and this movie is about getting home for Thanksgiving, I was thinking of buying it but I have it on DVD already. My question for those of you who own the Bluray, are there deleted scenes and if not, is the full scene of the plane in the movie? I have seen this movie on TV and there is an extra scene where they are on the plane that for some reason is cut out of my dvd version... Not sure if anyone notices this or knows the answer... This is the scene, as mentioned on youtube, is deleted for some reason... Last edited by Pelican170; 11-15-2011 at 04:50 PM. |

The scene that was cut was an extension of this scene where it shows all three of them eating their in-flight meal and the woman in front of Neal has her hair over her seat and on Neal's plate. This is the scene that is usually inserted back into the film when it's shown on TV. |

As was mentioned before, it IS on the Blu-ray as a special deleted scene, but is NOT incorporated into the movie. The most likely reason it was cut was probably due to story pacing issues. If you notice throughout the entire length of the film, there is a very specific "drive" in the unfolding of the story. The beats of the film are hit in a specific, slightly high-energy pattern, which keeps the story from drowning in it's own miserable BLAAAAAAAAH subject matter, and this is why the film works so well. As charming as it is, this deleted scene really pulls down the energy level, and it's not easy to recover that energy without having to turn the film "3 Stooges wacky", and boy, what a shame that would have been! Glad it's included as an extra, though.

Best Buy also had it in a red Paramount 100th Anniversary slipcover. |

Tad bit confused over the last few posts....there is new version coming out of PTaA on Blu-ray? I see no mention of it on Best Buy's site, but they do have two listings for a Blu-ray version, one showing a release date of 10/18/11, the other showing a release date of 9/25/12. I bought it day one when it came out, hilarious film, seems like yesterday I was watching it in the theaters, but I can't seem to find any info on an upcoming re-release on Blu-ray?
