Eh, some fantastic releases on single sided discs. We ain't talking about Gone With The Wind type running times.
Anyway, dropped to £8.89 http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004VEY1O2 |

It's an entirely different encode, as well, compared to the American release (which is a Focus Features/Universal release, like ours). The US BD uses VC-1 compression, versus AVC on the UK BD.
A BD-25 is perfectly sufficient for this release. Trust. ![]() |

Finally caught up with this last night and thought it was pretty excellent. A very lovingly crafted study on sadness both self-inflicted and forced-upon, it lacked the cold seriousness of something like A Single Man and instead bounced along on its slideshow voice-over ("This is the sun in 2003..." etc.) and two rather cute burgeoning relationships between Oliver and Anna, and Oliver and his newly reborn father, Hal.
For a film with so many nice, original notes it was a shame the ending couldn't have been a little more final and unique (50/50 ended the exact same way, on almost the exact same line of dialogue) - but that might be more of a reflection on the fact that if it had gone on another hour I wouldn't have minded. So, are the features identical on the blu releases worldwide (commentary and a short featurette)?. Has anyone actually put the US and UK discs together for an image comparison? |
