One of the worst efforts by Disney. They spent a ton making it too. It's just a very boring movie.

Love the movie and would love to see it on Blu. I really hope Disney releases all of their animated classics on Blu.

It is not the best movie, but it is still better then some Disney movies. I found it to be enjoyable. If it is cheap, I'll pick it up.

Not the best Disney film by any stretch, but hardly the worst either. A solid non-musical Disney entry, the film just isn't particularly memorable.

It has its flaws, but overall I liked it and would give it a B-. The musical score is fantastic though.

I sold my DVD when I was younger, but I'm really excited to see it again on Blu-ray. I figure I'll appreciate it more now that I'm older and now that the picture is going to look amazing and the colors more vibrant. I remember the story was okay, but it was the visuals that really made the film. I also remember playing the PS2 video game a lot more than I watched the film.

I liked it - fan of the whole steampunk vibe it gives off, especially the city / dock scene where they find their ship. The robot is annoying but I can live with it.

I didn't care for it at all. Too violent for rugrats, too silly and poorly-written for adults, with wildly uneven animation and unengaging characters. No wonder Disney lost a bundle on it.

Originally Musker & Clements wanted a more "serious" film, but as you can see from the deleted scenes, Eisner complained from the top that their Jim Hawkins just spent too much early subplot time mooning around over his lost dad, and that the plot needed to lighten up and get back to the pirates.
The marketing spent most of the time playing up what a silly character David Hyde-Pierce was as the doctor, but then, Doctor Livesey was already the goofy comedy-relief in Stevenson's book. (Did they abuse the privilege?...Mmm-maybe a tad.)
The Roscoe Lee Browne first-mate combines the two characters of king-and-country Squire Trelawney with a poor nameless first-mate offed by pirate treachery, and the tone ends up staying surprisingly close to the book. We could use a little less Martin Short, I'll admit, but he was from the book, too.

It's not "classic" classic, but it's got a slick, classy, eanest look for the usually lazy, sloppy and scattershot 00's Disney (and yes, that especially includes the plotless Lilo & Stitch)--
Give me a post-Hercules Ron&Jon choice between this movie and "Princess & the Frog", and I know which one I'D have a lot more fun watching again.

This was the first DVD my family I ever got (yeah, I know. We Were late to the game). So there's a lot of nostalgia when it comes to the bonus material (it was my first exposure to how in depth and expansive they could be). Plus, I think the movie is pretty good.

As a big feature animated fan, Yeah I agree with that. I saw it on dvd maybe two years after release thinking Disney..... did this? I also remember getting bored and forgetting most of the movie a few days later.

If I'm not mistaken, I remember when Disney announced it as in their animated Masterpiece canon. To which I was disapointed as Duck Tales TOTLL, Lion King 2 Simba's Pride, A Goofy Movie are not and I consider Much better movies.

Since Treasure Planet was created by Walt Disney Feature Animation, it is in the canon by definition. Duck Tales TOTLL and A Goofy Movie were done primarily by Walt Disney Animation France, and LK2 was by DisneyToon Studios.

I haven't seen this in forever. May need to rewatch it and pick up the blu-ray if I like it.
