Default Favorite Historical Movie??

ok, so i just got into The Tudors, so i rented and watched a few movies, such as The Other Boelyn Girl, and both Elizabeth films. they were pretty good.

i was wondering... what are some other good historical films?

If I can get ahold of my mother I would tell you. Only one I can think of that nobody has mentioned is Kingdom of Heaven.

Braveheart.

I also really like Kingdom of Heaven and Gladiator. Though not a movie, HBO's Rome is also very good!

I don't think Gladiator is a historical movie.

And given the responses that are all over the map, you might try narrowing the time/place period down.

If, for example, you asked what were the best Tudor/Elizabethan films, or the best English-royalty movies, etc.
Even so, can't get much better than the first Elizabeth movie for the category, I haven't seen "Anne of the Thousand Days" recently (ah, Genevieve Bujold... ), and I've been meaning to catch "A Man For All Seasons" on streaming Netflix.

I would have to go with Band of Brothers even though it realistically is not a movie.
