Default Dead Man's Chest is going to be an incredible BR disc... provided BR works by then

It is official, Dead Man's Chest will be the movie that gets to me run out an buy a BR player at the end of the year. That movie was just pure brilliance!!

I can't wait to see it. I'm surprised that it's not rated higher over on Rottentomatoes but then again I don't always go along with the critics especially on comedies.

What is it on RT? I rarely pay attention to those idiots anyway since they don't know what to give a movie. They give garbage like 40 Year Old Virgin like 80%, yet give something like X3 somewhere in the 50s and The Davinci Code in the 30s.

It's right on course to break Spiderman's three day weekend record at the box office, at least.

For your consideration, Entertainment Weekly's review of Dead Man's Chest:
'Pirates' a Bermuda Triangle of bad

I realize the opening day box office take is through the roof but I didn't think the first film was anything more than average so I can't say I'm at all hyped to see this on BD. Looks like a rental at best. I say "looks" because the trailer doesn't appeal to me any more than this review does.

That review is bunk. They probably forgot a thing called TRILOGY.

Anyway, that is cool that you didn't like it. Honestly, I thought it was going to be bad because all pirate movies suck, but I wanted to see it because Depp was in it (best actor next to Connery!!!), and I loved it so much. At first, I did not want a sequel, but then they said that everyone from teh first one would be returning (and I don't mean just actors), so I quickly gain in favor for it, and I loved every minute of it. Granted, the first one is still better, but this was just down right awesome and is tied with V for Vendetta for being the best movie of the year. Sadly, there is no other movie that will be able to compare to these two no matter how good Saw III or The Grudge 2are.

That pretty much sums up myself as well. I typically hate pirate movies but Depp is always a plus in movies so I gave the first movie a chance. I'm sure I'll rent the second one as my kids like the first. COTBP is probably the best pirate movie I've seen. It's just that I still don't care for pirates. I would expect that both of these movies have great potential to be terrific on BD. Let's hope the Blu-ray quality improves drastically by the time these are released.

I am a fan of pirates....but the 1st one was...pretty good...I like Depp as an actor...

Has anyone heard any details of the release of the 1st POTC movie on BD? I enjoyed the first one, and never owned it on DVD, but I'm interested in purchasing it once it comes to BD.

Makes sense... Why short change the customer and not give them everything they are waiting for. I hope they are at least getting their releases ready so all that has to be done when DL BD are ready is production.

Have you read something that states this? or is it just speculation?...This would make for an interesting read.

thanks

Dr. Kain has a history of posting his opinion but making it appear to be fact. That said, I suspect his guess is correct.

Very funny Nyg. 95% of what I say is my opinion. That is what they are under MY posts.

Anyway, seriously, I remember reading somewhere that Disney is holding out for the DL discs because they want the space for their interactive menu games and stuff. It may have been animeondvd that I read this at, but I could be wrong.

Hey thanks for the follow up Kain, I've been throttled in years past for "speculating" on other boards so i've gotten in a good habit of throwing the IMO, or IMHO or if I wasn't sure...I'd post, "i'm pretty sure i read somewhere"

I am glad a big movie house like Disney is holding off to do it right (if infact they are). I've become very patient, and i don't want another sub-par Kill Bill 1&2, the DVD's are unbareably bad transfers and I really want to see these masterpiece films done right!

This is good advice for Dr. Kain. Nice to hear it from someone else since I already told him he should be doing this.

Please see Brian's post. There's a such thing as internet etiquette. If you don't change your posting style you won't be posting here much longer.
