Default Pioneer PDP-LX5090H

Hey folks!

I just bought a Pioneer KURO 9G Plasma (PDP-LX5090H). But I don't know how to make the perfect setup.

Can somebody help me with the calibration? I really want the perfect picture.

Thanks.

United Kingdom Perfect picture

For any one else that looks at this thread. If you have managed to pick up one of these awesome Kuros from new or you got it second hand like I did and all is well with it. To get the perfect picture set up for you viewing area you have to get in a professional Calibrator. Making adjustments yourself with a set up disc that has test patterns on will give you a really nice picture if you do the settings correctly. If you want to see the picure at its full potential then only a Pro calibrator can do this. They will use meters to read test patterns displayed on the screen and will go into the software of the TV and set the correct levels. One group of settings will not work for everyone as each viewing room is different. Mainly meaning the amout of ambiant light in the room.

Idealy you would get it calibrated in the darkest possible setting. Once done, the picture will look amazing in daylight but even better at night. You may find you don't like the out come at first. This is because we have never really seen a properly calibrated picture due to TVs not being able to display images correctly before. With mine I look at the real world arond me and compare the colours and blacks and I realize what we used to see was quite muted. Movies and now TV programs can have colour treatment done, meaning things may look more orange, green, blue etc and so on. Of course this is done for effect and usually to set a mood for the scene or age the picture if its a period piece. With your set calibrated you should now see the picture how it was intended and not half a job like we used to get.

Also its worth purchasing a properly screened mains cable and properly screened HDMI and other connector cables. Sending a clean source to the TV will let it work at its best. A high end Bluray player will give a better picture than a run of the mill one. Putting properly screened mains cables in you Player, set top box (if you prefer to use one instead of the built in freeview system) and amp as well as a mains conditioner will make the picture even better. A lot of what you see on screen otherwise has been picked up on its way through your system and shouldn't be there.

You will still have a far superior picture than most other TVs with out all the mains cables and conditioner but it won't be at its best unless you send it the cleanest source possible.
