Default Transformers - Dark of the Moon Pixelation Glitch

Didn't see this anywhere else so hopefully someone can help me with this. I've bought and returned 3 copies of the Dark of the Moon blu from two different best buys and they've all had the same pixelation issue at the same point in the movie.

At first I thought the disc was scratched but when I returned it two more times and got the same results I figured the odds were too high.

Is this a known issue with this particular blu ray? I thought maybe it was a firmware issue but that didn't seem to the be the case. I have a Panasonic BD-50. I am currently running the 2.1 firmware on it. Latest update is 2.2. I tried updating that but kept getting an error message when i put the disc in for the update.

Didn't have an issue with mine. Not too sure about your BD player, but I don't believe I have heard any issues with this disc.

Go to a friends house with a PS3, if it doesn't happen on his system you'll know it's your blu-ray player. If it does happen on his system, then you may of found a glitch, or the shipment in your area had issues.

I've been thru 1 and I've had a similar problem. The picture actually slows down in a few parts. And annoys me. I'm guessing it's just my bd player having trouble

I didn't notice this issue either. Also running on an Oppo BDP83.

It's not impossible that the store that you got your disc from had a bad batch or something. I remember once I got Benjamin Button... and a minimal scratch around the outer ring... only seemingly a surface scrape, but it was in the circular pattern of the disc which is a big no no... made the film glitch at a certain part. Returned it at the same store. Same minor scrape in the same place, same glitch in almost exactly the same spot. Returned it to get my money back, and picked it up at a different store in the area. Disc was fine, and it played fine.

I would say take a close look at the disc. Make sure there's no scrapes or scuffs. If there is, get your money back, get it somewhere else. If you get a clean disc and you're still getting the same issue, seems like a player issue that will need to be rectified with a firmware update. Contact the company that makes it if that's the case.

I would connect directly to the 'net via an ethernet cable and do the update. If the update downloads okay and you still have the issue... it may be an issue with the alignment of your player's laser. It's rare but it happens.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. My gf picked up another copy from a target near her work so I'm going to try that later today. If same issue occurs I'll try the firmware direct connect to the net. If it still happens I'll just live with it I guess.

If it's a lazer issue is that an easy fix or is that something that would require me to get a new player?

If it's out of alignment - which is very rare, it's a fine adjustment but if it's a weak laser... just get a new player because replacing the laser assembly is pretty much the same cost.

Just watched this for the first time tonight. I noticed the "tiling" or pixelation in the exact same spot and one other spot a bit earlier in the film. I tested the disc, from Best Buy, on my PS3 and no issue there. Looks like I'll be putting my HTPC together sooner than I thought!

I've had my Panny BDP for a few years now, and it's not the first time it's picked up issues that my PS3 hasn't.

Good news guys. My GF picked up a copy from target and there were no issues. So I'm thinking the shipment that came in to Best Buy had to have something to do with it. Very strange though.

Has anyone had a wierd loud static sound at about 1:11:32? Its right when Mearing is telling them to not let the decepticons get to nest as an explosion happens inside bursting out. You hear the beginning of the explosion then the quick loud static sound then the end of the explosion. I have a ps3 bitstreamed to umc1.

I just noticed that it only does it when the movie is being bitstreamed. I switched the ps3 to linear pcm and the noise is gone. Also it doesnt do the noise when its bitstreaming just regular dolby digital 5.1. Do I have just a defective disc? does anyone else who has a ps3 and umc1 bitstreamed have this problem?

Also I exchanged it for another copy and the other copy does the same thing.
