Default DVD packaging thats better then the BD counterpart

Any of the Vista Series from Disney:

Tombstone and Unbreakable come to mind.

Roger Rabbit will probably fall into the same category when it eventually gets released...

Another one that comes to mind is The Lord of the Ring EE, i loved how the packaging looked like a book and had that texture

Gotta agree. Manufacturer's obsession to make the box blue most of the time does not help.

The collector's edition of Pulp Fiction came in a nice box and even had a booklet featuring a couple of magazine reviews from Time Magazine and Entertainment Weekly, a cast list and even a list of all the songs in the film. I simply solved the packaging problem by taking out the special features disc and swapping it with the Blu-ray version so now it's a Special Edition Combo Pack with nice packaging.

Fantasia may have an awesome cover art and slipcover, but virtual vault and the anthology box set was just great. Same with the Toy Story Ultimate Toy Box Collector's Edition

The Master & Commander Special Edition DVD was far superior in every way to the Fox blu-ray edition(s).

Same goes for the Pulp Fiction Special Edition

That's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

The only way Blu-ray has improved over DVD packaging is by making it smaller. Can't stand the blu plastic cases. I prefer all of them to have slipcovers at least, but I know that couldn't possibly happen.

If every studio/manufacturer would simply adopt the method of using the same cases Criterion used, all would be good IMO.

The New World. The blu, like a lot of others, has an airbrushed, or comic book looking, pic of Colin Farrell. The DVD cover craps on it.

My Casino Royale Collector's Edition DVD set is way better looking than the blu-ray version IMO. (I have both)

I hated the collector's edition DVD of Pulp Fiction. Not because of the movie, but because of the packaging. It was cool that it had a really nice booklet, but the case was flimsy and fragile as hell! The top and bottom of mine came unglued and it was just a total mess! Jackie Brown was the same way.

PTA's Magnolia, Se7en, Fight club (the box that looked like the soap they sell in the movie), Sin City, LOTR extended editions... So many! The worst part is that the collector in me still keeps those DVD's just because of the packaging...

I dig my Highlander: The Immortal Edition packaging. I'm actually going to replace the case to a 3 disc DVD case so that I can put my UK Highlander BD in it.

Poseidon Adventure

The DVD has a great cover, with original poster art. Plus it had a set of lobby card repros. The blu-ray case is very blah, with a lame photo. I put the disc in the DVD case.
