United Kingdom Bel Ami UK - needs checking

Hi. Got this on blu. A member asked me was it region free. I stated that it's studio canal and they are always region b but I said I'd try out the disc. I have a multi region player and I told it to act as region a.

Ok. I placed the disc in the player after telling the player to act as a region a player.

The warning message appeared. This is for region b only.

But strangely, I pressed stop. Then press top menu. It gave an error. I press top menu again, and the menu appeared. I went to play movie. And it played. Very strange.

I will open this up to the forum. Can someone else please check this out.

I've heard of a couple of BD's which work with the little menu cheat.

Could be your player. What are you using?

That's why I've asked others. I don't know how my multi region thing works. It's a panny 3d player with modded firm. You punch codes in to select region. It's definitely on region a.

Some Panasonic, old Sony, and a couple of Phillips players have the ability to bypass region coding on some discs. This does not mean that these discs are Region-Free.

Yeah that's what I was wondering. Didn't want to get any members in region a land excited.

As studo canal I fully expect it to be locked. They usually are. 100%

Hopefully if someone else has this and a region a player can tryit out.

I can't say exactly how this thing works. It either has something to do with the way certain discs are encoded, or a chip function of some sort which some players have.

I have one very old Sony player (S300) which plays all sorts of Region-B locked discs. I don't use it because it can't decode DTS-HD Master Audio, but every once in a while I would test the region coding on some discs and would use it (for coding, I run discs on 2-3 players). Very strange.
