Default Next generation gaming consoles???

I put this thread in a nother area already and decided to put this one in the XBOX section to. I have been an avid gamer since I got my 1st Commodore 64 and Nintendo back in the mid to early 80's. I play PC games and bought all three current consoles the XBOX, PS3,and Wii as soon as they came out. My laptop has 1920x1080 res screen, I have 2 Invidia 260m GTX graphics cards in SLI configuration a quad core processor and 6 gigs of ram in my laptop so it beats the hell out of my PS3,Wii and XBOX. I have it pictured in my older HT gallery. I have been reading up on Next Gen Consoles and was curious what others where thinking, wanting. expecting or would like in the next gen consoles. One sight I was looking at says to expect a fourfold increase in cpu performance. Graphics power will be up to 8 or more times more powerful than the current systems and they will have up to 2-4 gigs of ram. When this was all mentioned I started to think they are starting to mirror computers more and more. And then I thought to myself that would be cool if they made the systems in different levels, say 3 for example. With different levels of graphics, computing and memory. The 1st being entry level, 2nd being more powerful and 3rd being fully decked out with the most powerful computing parts inside. But none would have an advantage over each other playing or competing against one another on line. So what do you guys think and want in the next gaming consoles???

There's no way on this earth that we're getting 4k gaming on the next generation of consoles. Not saying that they won't be completely incapable of it but they'll very much be limited to native 1080p.

Lets not forget we've hardly even touched true 1080p gaming in this generation of consoles! 1080p tv will still very much be the VAST majority of households five years from now and consoles are not aimed at the higher end of the market. We'll still be trying to push stereoscopic 3D to saturation point before we bother with 4k I'd imagine.

More than anything from next generation I really hope they don't try and force Digital Downloads on us. I've no problem with the system in itself but the artificial pricing structure it allows. If something doesn't sell in a bricks and mortar store then supply and demand dictates that the prices drop to shift more stock. Digital delivery has already proved on both xbox live and psn laughable prices of older titles. Proof in point go and look at something like Call of Duty Black Ops for example.

Whilst they're at it get rid of Microsoft Points! Sales should be transparent, you shouldn't have to sit there trying to figure out if something is good or bad value for your money.

Aside from all that then great, just don't expect the next gen to outperform what higher end pc's are already capable of. The form factor alone means that Heat dissipation is going to be a hell of a problem for true next gen gaming.

As for timing I'm sure now Nintendo have shown they're hand it won't be long now before Microsoft and Sony announce something.. roll on E3 this year, I can't wait.

For me for next gen consoles I just want a really reliable piece of hardware and a shitload of great games. I want to be playing on the same console 4-5 years later and not be on a third console.

I'd also like there to be less sequel insanity. I'd love Call of Duty to come out once every 2+ years instead of being an annual thing. Also I don't want to see games get handicapped if you don't buy DLC. I hated buying a game(especially and EA game) and being behind the eight ball from day one or shortly after because I didn't throw down an additional $10+ for more DLC.

Some new franchises being created would be awesome. But I'd also really like to see all the long time favorites come out with new games on the next gen, which I am sure they will.

One thing I don't want to see too much of is motion control based games. I am not into the Kinect or Move type shit and avoid those kind sof games like a disease.

For Microsoft's next Xbox I'd really like to see Rare make some amazing games for the console. If Rare could return to it's glory days with amazing titles like it did on N64 that alone would make the next gen for the next Xbox very exciting. I don't think since MS bought Rare years back that they have even come out with a single notable game. Not sure if the same level of talent is still at Rare studios like it was in the N64 era.

Either way I'll most likely be in line on day one for the next Xbox.

For fps, maybe. For games like elder scrolls, fallout, and gta and red dead, to me, they were worth the $60 I paid and I was happy to give more for dlc
