Question The Lord of the Rings EE: Best commentary

Which commentary between "The Director and Writers" and "The Cast" is the most interesting (less boring).

Is it even worth it?

Please refrain from answering unless you've actually heard at least one of them.

Thank you.

Both are interesting - the commentary for Boromir's death scene by Jackson, Walsh, and Boyens kicked up a bit of controversey many years ago, as Boyens states on the track how they improved the scene versus Tolkien's handling of the same material in the book, and Boyens calls it a failing of Tolkien's...Jackson changes the subject, wisely, because Tolkien fans were outraged (and, from where I sit, rightly so).

The cast, commentary, by contrast, is joking and winsome. The only moment it finds its way into controversial waters is in The Two Towers, when Astin and Wood have a bit of a conflict of opinion about the book being "anti-war". Other than that, it's fairly easy-going, and Billy Boyd is especially funny throughout.

Gotta go with the Director/Writer commentary. It provides great insight into what they change from the book and why. Some may not agree with every change, but its good to hear an explanation from those involved.
