Arrow Ice Age: Continental Drift (Trailer)

I would put this in the rumor category.

Quote:
"Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" has yet to appear in theaters, and according to an AICN source, 20th Century Fox has already been hard at work on a fourth installment in the franchise.

The new film, tentatively titled "Ice Age: Th4w," will step away from the prehistoric setting. It will see Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie and Scrat frozen solid and accidentally thawed in a museum during present day.

The first "Ice Age" movie earned $383 million in worldwide ticket sales, while the sequel brought in $652 million. It's no wonder that Fox would already be planning future installments.

I imagine the teaser might involve Scrat chasing an accorn in, what appears to be, some pre-historic forest, only to eventually land in a low grass land. Scrat spots his accorn atop a white tee, runs blindly for it while it is replaced with a golf ball, opens his eyes just in time to give a huge gulp/quiver, and goes flying accross the green, screaming with his back to the golf ball while the golfer yells "Fore!"

Cue Ice Age 4 title. Then the "TH_W" drops in around the 4.

I hate titles like that, but that's probably what it will end up being.

I'm kinda tired of this franchise though. No interest in making a trip to the theatres to see the 3rd, but the completist in me may end up buying it on blu

Is Blue Sky still making Horton Hatches an Egg? I'd heard rumours a while back.

You do realize these movies are meant for children, you're probably not the target audience.

Exactly I find it strange that adults always want childrens movie series to end because they don't like them. When they are made for children not adults so when kids say no more then they will stop. But I find the Ice Age series to be the most consistent and best series. I loved 1 hated 2 and loved 3.

For me if you aren't the target audience then you can't complain.

I also like the third best. Cool new places, a fun new character and way more colorful. Ready for the 4th.

Yeah, but I went watching it with my niece (the thrid one) and she was getting quite restless and bored, many animated films can be funny for both adults and kids, but this did neither. Most the humor was adult centric, and the slapstick was tedious.

I can enjoy animated films, I'm not too old, I just think Ice Age needs to stop.

Well I do agree there some of the jokes went right over the heads of some of the younger one's that I saw it with. They all still enjoyed it and found it funnier then the 1st one and can't wait for the 4th to come out.

After last year's Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs became one of the highest grossing animated movies of all-time, it seemed inevitable that a fourth Ice Age movie would be on its way soon enough. 20th Century Fox made it official yesterday, scheduling the tentatively titled Ice Age: Continental Drift for July 12, 2012.

The Ice Age series began in March 2002 when Ice Age opened to $46.3 million on its way to a $176.4 million total. Four years later, Ice Age: The Meltdown banked $195.3 million. The Meltdown's sequel, Dawn of the Dinosaurs, was the first Ice Age movie to be in 3-D and to open in the summer, two qualities it shares with Continental Drift. Dawn of the Dinosaurs went on to become to highest-grossing Ice Age movie, closing with $196.6 million.

While the series has performed well domestically, its true profitability comes from its overseas earnings, which have been steadily increasing as the series has progressed. Ice Age grossed $206.9 million in 2002, while The Meltdown more than doubled that in 2006 with $460.1 million. Dawn of the Dinosaurs continued this rapid upward trend, tallying an astounding $688.2 million, in the process passing Finding Nemo ($528.2 million) as the highest-grossing animated movie ever overseas.

Ice Age: Continental Drift is the third movie to be scheduled for July 2012, and will be sandwiched between the Spider-Man reboot (July 3) and Batman 3 (July 20).

And although we know it'll make some money anyway because of the Cult of the Squirrel , fact is, the producer and creative soul of the first Ice Age movies is already gone and gotten his own studio for Universal.
(Like when Andrew Adamson left the Shrek sequels, and they were closed by Part 4.)

He's the one at Illumination who thought the "Isolated three-minute comedy-short" strategy would create the same overnight cult-of-personality for the first two "Despicable Me" teasers, and, uh....well, boy, that didn't work.
