Default Saw PQ

I have a friend coming by later on this week to check out my Blu-ray player. I rarely get to see this guy (hes away at college) so I really wanna take this oppurtunity to show him what blu-ray can do. Normally I would show him Kingdom of Heaven or The Warriors but he has requested to watch Saw because he hasnt seen it yet. I do not own this title and plan on renting it but I dont know how good the PQ is. What do you guys think? Does Saw Blu-ray impress?

I own it..... It's actually pretty damn sweet.

Very clear... Part II and over course Part III the picture gets better as they are newer flicks....

If his onto thriller type flicks he'll dig it and it should go over ok as far as getting him "on board"

i will not be biased...they are terrible. saw 1 was the worst, but saw 2, though it had a couple nice spots, was mostly as bad as saw 1...still havent seen the third, though i can imagine it will be better....but these movies are anything but reference material for PQ...a lot of it is "WORSE" than a dvd because of unintended grain (obviously its better because it is hd, but the distraction of poor PQ makes it worse), a lot of it is equal, and some of it is better

Not seen Saw 1, which is meant to be really poor, but I have no complaints at all with 2 and 3.

I'd give them three and a half stars.

Fair enough, but a 3 1/2 star movie isnt going to wow my friend like a 5 star movie.

it impressed me enough to buy the other two and be anxious of 4. If your friend requested it, it most likely is for a reason (that none of us know), so why so ambivelent to show him a movie that he is interested in?

I would rent part III since I thought it looked great on Blu-Ray.

I own all three. The PQ gets better with each movie, but I wouldn't call them reference. 6.1 DTS is nice though.

I've rented the first one and I think the PQ is better than the DVD, but by Blu-ray standard it is a bit weak. The SQ on the other hand is excellent.

I wanted to take the opportunity to show him what Blu-ray can do at its best (or at least "near" best) in the hopes of getting him to buy a Blu-ray player.

Just quickly demo the other movies to let him see the PQ. You don't have to watch the whole movie.

Show him the movie he wants to see and then show a few scenes from some reference quality discs.
