So I got my Act of Valor steelbook the other day from FS with no dent's or dings
![]() Unwrapped it and the two halves came apart (it tore where the back meets the spine) ![]() ![]() I was wondering if I bought another steel (WB general release say) is it easy to swap the shell? I realize I would have to make a sticker for the spine but I think it would be doable. Anyone have experience doing this, any help or info would be appreciated Thanks |

Thanks for the pic bud. I think i may have a very easy solution for you that keeps the spine part as well.
![]() I think the first thing you need to do is find an internal plastic holder just like the one this steelbook has. They are available on Ebay i think. Then i think you would have to use the method of removing the plastic holder like other members do when inserting other artwork into the inside area. Once your done to that we come to probably the most complicated part and thats saving the spine of the steelbook. For the spine, try and prise the plastic away from the spine area and if stuck on, find a method to safely remove the glue and then take the spine off the plastic. Then with the new inner plastic part, attach the spine back with a light glue adhesive. You can go with a superglue version if you feel confident of it not needing chagnging again etc. Hope that helped ![]() |

When you are going to remove the original spine art from the damaged inner part, you should put it in some hot water for a minute before you try to pull it off. It will soften the glue so you won't accidentally bend the spine art.
Hope that makes sense.. |

![]() First because the severity of the damage. Second because they are sold out. Where is the next closest FS to you? You can exchange at any store as long as you have the receipt (online and store purchases both). You can ask at your closest store to have them check other stores for stock as well. I really hope you can manage a replacement. It is one sexy looking case despite the quality of the film. Not to rub salt in the wound, but both stores near me in Vancouver have a dozen or more left. Too bad I can't help somehow. ![]() |

![]() Thinking of switching shells with my Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows steel and then exchanging that, which my local store as a lot. Not sure though if that would be considered "legal" ![]() I really think that this may have happened during manufacturing as there wasn't any envelope damage and wrapping damage that I can recall. Anyways thanks again for the replies & help ![]() |

lol u guys over in east canada got it rough i guess lol. in london we got 2 bb and 2 futureshops 1 at either end of the city.
if it was me id try calling the local one and see if the manger could talk to the st john store mabey he can have them send over one of there copies and do the exchange. lol although there was 1 time i wanted to get the incption steel book both futureshops here in london had none. so got my buddy to drive me an hour to chatham to get one from there. in the end it turned out to be an awesome deal as it was marked down in there store from 34.99 to 17.99 and it scanned wrong so i got another $10 off for scanning code so a mint brandnew copy of incption steelbook for $8 was def worth the trip lol. Going into FS Tomorrow and try to talk to someone about what is happening and my plan on switching shells.
Nobody would lose anything, in fact if they let me switch, or order a new one from another store, they will get to keep the cost of AoV steel (FS Customer Service just wanted to give me a refund and send back the movie). ![]() Again I really appreciate all the help. YOU PEOPLE ![]() |

ya the web support people are largely useless. but the manger in store will probly be willing to help u out guess it depends if he/she cares if they lose the money on u returning it.
if the store isn't willing to help try these emails jubsamue@bestbuycanada.ca executiveresolution@bestbuycanada.ca kpenniston@futureshop.com Last edited by aaron158; 06-15-2012 at 10:16 PM. |

I swapped over my Iron Man 2 from a 2 disc steelbook to a 3 disc one using Ghost Rider which was only a 2 disc set.
First I removed the front and back of both, keeping them safely to one side. To remove the spine, I got a very thin craft knife and slid it a few mm between the metal spine and plastic case, just cutting through the glue. I then changed to a slightly thicker and stronger craft knife and slowly but gently ran it under the metal part pulling it towards me. I then repeated this on the other spine. Once both labels were removed, there was enough sticky glue to simply re-stick them on the other plastic case (if not, a dab of Loctite would work brilliantly). Finally I clicked the front and back parts into place and voilla! Job done. Both spines straight, flat and as if they'd never been touched. I repeat though, if using this method you must unclip the front and back first or run the risk of scratching them on the edges with the blade. |

Ended up just swapping shells with SH:GoS and exchanging it.
Used a razor blade to remove the spine label after soaking in warm water. Did slightly kink the AoV spine near the top, but with some extra glue it should be ok. This was quite a learning experience and thank all members for their guidance. ![]() |

Before Amazon changed their packaging I was getting one busted Steelbook after another. Luckily the inserts were often undamaged. Now I have 5 (3 Disc) 3 (2 Disc) and 2 (1 Disc) inserts that will be used in future swaps and repairs.
