Default BluRay player/recorder with ASTC tuner

Anybody here of any BluRay player/recorders coming out with HDTV (ASTC) tuners built-in? If so, I bet they're real pricey!
How much do you bet the price on just about all of the HD equipment will come down as we get closer to the FCC mandated change over to DTV FEB '2009?

Since March 1 2007 every device that contains a built in NTSC tuner is also required by law to have a built in ATSC tuner. Just about all electronics on the shelves at retail stores have the ATSC tuner accept clearance products that were shipped into the United States before March 1 2007 cut off date (and tunerless products with no NTSC and ATSC tuners, Monitors only, tunerless DVD recorders, etc).

The first BLU-RAY standalone recordable devices are scheduled to arrive in the US sometime in the year 2008. They might be selling for around $2,000 for first generation models. They will contain an ATSC/QAM tuner with cable card. The QAM tuners most likely will be two way so one can replace their HDTV cable box completely. They will also have an IEEE-1394 interface to record HDTV programming from a HDTV satellite receiver.
For around $500-$600 you can purchase a BLU-RAY drive for your computer and with an ATSC/QAM tuner you can record HDTV programming from cable or over the air broadcasting. Also satellite with IEEE-1394 interface card.

What happened? It's been five years and there are still no Blu-ray recorders with ATSC tuners in the US. They are appearing in other countries. I can't believe that every manufacturer is affraid of the Hollywood studios and television networks, that they won't even put one of these on the market.

It is not fear, it is just an inexistent market. Here in NA the vast vast majority of people (over 90%) watch using cable or Sat. That is why we also have fewer HDD PVRs then other markets like Europe and Asia.
