Default Disney Announces Premiere Date For "Toy Story of TERROR"

Quote:
Disney’s Pixar announced this morning “Toy Story of Terror,” a new animated short coming to the ABC Network this Halloween!

“Toy Story of Terror” is a 30-minute special that reunites the original voice cast from the Toy Story franchise, reports TV Guide.

From Pixar, “Toy Story of Terror” follows the adventures of the toys post-Toy Story 3, in which a fun road trip takes a very unexpected turn. “Bonnie is on a road trip to go see grandma with her mom and the toys are in the trunk,” producer Galyn Susman says. “Mom gets a flat tire and they have to spend the night at a motel and all kinds of chaos ensues.”

While “Terror” will include Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles) and Rex (Wallace Shawn), Jessie (Joan Cusack) will have a more prominent role in the special. Additionally, Bonnie’s toys — Mr. Pricklepants (Timothy Dalton) and Trixie (Kristen Schaal) — who first appeared in the third installment, will be featured, while we’ll also get to actually meet Combat Carl, who briefly appeared in the first film when he was blown up by Sid, who will be voiced by Carl Weathers.

Airing sometime near Halloween, the special will have a horror feel after one of the toys goes missing at the motel. The rest of the gang will find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate. That said, the producers took inspiration from the horror genre — Psycho, Aliens and Predator, in particular — but found the right balance for both adults and children.

Disney-Pixar’s first TV special, “Toy Story of TERROR,” will be out just in time for pre-Halloween scares.

ABC announced today that it will air the special at 8 p.m. October 16, Variety reports.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will reprise their roles from the popular films, as will other “Toy Story” series stars Joan Cusack, Timothy Dalton, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn and Kristen Schaal. Carl Weathers joins the cast as Combat Carl and Combat Carl Jr.

ABC describes the event as, “What starts out as a fun road trip for the Toy Story gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this Toy Story OF TERROR!”

They get all of the voice talent back for just a 30 minute special? Oh well, my kids will be happy.

This could be the new its the great pumpkin charlie brown, there hasn't been anything to go along with the classics and now we may finally have something. Personally I wouldn't mind a CARS, Incredibles, Nemo, Wall-E, and or Monsters Inc holiday special either.

after such a perfect ending on TS3, would you really want a 4th movie?

I think TV is the way forward to continue the Toy Story world, without ruining the movies

[Show spoiler]Andy gave the toys to the daycare... so what? They cant have adventures after that?
Considering the shorts that have already been released, they can still make movies and have stories to tell.

But really, these types of films don't appeal to me, so it doesn't matter to me. My kids however love TS and would love to see another film. So for them, sure I want a fourth movie.

30mins sound way too short to me. 1 hour sounds better.
