I remember watching the interviews HBO did with this disgusting bastard years ago. Michael Shannon is perfect casting in my opinion, the coldness in his eyes can be terrifying. Not to mention we get James Franco as Mr. Softee, Kuklinski's fellow hitman AND Benicio Del Toro as Roy DeMeo the head of a Gambino crime family murder crew.

The Iceman the true story of notorious contract killer and charming family man Richard Kuklinski. At one time Mickey Rourke was set to tackle the lead role, but fortunately that didn’t happen. In his place we have the extraordinary and perpetually underrated Michael Shannon, who is posed to have a breakout year with lead roles in this, the apocalyptic Sundance favorite Take Shelter, and a return as the best character on Boardwalk Empire. The guy has been one of the best in the business for years and it’s about time he got more recognition. With a big role as Zod in the next Superman reboot, don’t be surprised if Shannon is an awards contender this Oscar season if The Ice Man or Take Shelter are any good. Benicio Del Toro and James Franco will star alongside Shannon in The Iceman. No release date is in place yet, but expect this puppy to premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival followed by a fall release.
