Default running multiple subs?

Was wondering. I need new back surrounds and have been running with Def Tech towers as my rears. How would powered sub towers work as my rear surrounds? Im looking at the Def Tech 8040's. My receiver is a Denon 3808 Cl. My entire system is DT with a DT super cube 1 as my stand alone sub. Too much bass? Sound weird? Does anyone do this and if not, why? Need some opinions. Any and all are welcome.
