Not bad. I doubt the film can look much better than this. It was always kind of tacky even in the cinemas.

Thanks Hum_tum143
I would like to get this one now, but more so just for the songs and by Laxmikant Pyarelal and Sridevi. The songs are embedded in my childhood memories. Hawa Hawaii being the biggest one of them all.

How do the Blu-ray screencaps compare with the anamorphic DVD version? Slight upgrade or big upgrade?

The PQ looks Very Good. But I doubt if 2.35:1 was the original aspect ratio, as most old indian cinemas had 1.85:1 single screen theatres, or 1.33:1. Mr. India was shot Full Aperture show a 4:3 DVD would look much better than this cramped bluray!

Yeah in fact very few Indian films are in 1.85:1 ratio. Most of the pre-digital era Indian movies were either 1.33:1 or 2.35:1. Mr. India was in the latter slot.

Actually you would be hard pressed to find any theaters in India built in the last three to four decades, that do not have a 2.35:1 screen. By "old" you would have to be implying the 1960's for your statement to hold true and even then, the screen would be 4:3 (1.33:1) and not 1.85:1. Which is an aspect ratio very rarely used by Indian film makers.
