Our house was recently flooded by a 60 gallon fish tank that cracked and leaked, and during the remodel I'm taking some opportunities to change a few things. Before I get my HT up and running again, I want to address a problem I was having with our sub (a Polk PSW350) -- it seems on heavy and even semi-heavy bass passages of soundtracks, the bass from the sub would travel up our walls and immediately begin vibrating decorative objects on the walls pretty badly, such as those metal design elements you can find at Pier One and Home Goods. It got so bad in our living room HT that it's almost a distraction when we're watching something with a lot of LFE; objects would rattle and resonate and instead of experiencing bass, we experienced sheer noise. I understand this is FAR from the best subwoofer out there, but we have to make do for now before we can upgrade...
I have heard and read about these so-called "platforms" that can be placed beneath the sub that are supposed to absorb vibrations and rattles, but don't know much about them. Can someone please tell me if they're worth buying, and which ones we should be looking at? ANY information on these platforms would be greatly appreciated. |
