We got the player a year or two ago from Best Buy on Black Friday morning. Since then, we've had little trouble with it, and it's played stuff just fine. My Target Exclusive Hunger Games just came in the mail today, so I tried playing it, but it will not play. Early on after the player itself's menu goes away, a quick screen flashes that says "Checking for updates," and then the TV displays nothing, and the player displays 0:00:00 on its screen along with all the other usual little things, HDMI, 1080i (older TV, I know), and stuff, with 03 popping up occasionally in front of it, and it just sits this way with the disc spinning inside. It can shut off, or stop "playing" and open the drawer just fine, but will not play.
After it giving me this problem, I shut it off and put my new "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" in for the first time. That Blu-ray shows the screenshot from the movie with the loading bar, and then a studio ad like they usually do for a brief moment as if everything is fine, but then the player just displays "WAITING" on its screen and nothing on the TV itself. I put my 2D copy of Hugo into the player for the first time, and it spun, stopped spinning, respun again (still on the player's main menu) before spitting it back out. 2ND EDIT: Grr, Hugo is now playing as well. I am feeling like a chump. At this point, GWTDT and Hunger Games are still not playing. The other disc I tried was "Another Earth," which displays its "This Blu-ray disc has been manufactured to the highest..." yaddah yaddah, and then repeats the Hunger Games symptoms, flashing 88 instead of 03. I've played this disc on the player before, too... EDIT: Another Earth is now playing fine. I'll keep trying different things and updating the post but no one's replying so I feel like I'm on my own :P I have an inkling that the player's firmware may need updating or something, since we've never done that, because we don't live in an area where hooking the player up to the Internet is an option. I'm hoping this is it and not the whole player needing to be replaced because maybe I can take it into Best Buy and have them do it for me or something... Avatar and TDK are playing fine, so it seems to be newer Blu-rays... Last edited by biodigitaljazz; 08-22-2012 at 05:34 AM. |

Apologize for all the noobiness in the original post AND that I can't figure out how to delete it... If I can figure out, I will.
Downloaded the last firmware update from Insignia's site onto a flash drive, plugged it in, and updated. Now everything plays with no problems. |
