Default My hearing has been boosted

For a little while anyway.

Last trip to the doctor involved an ear examination and a subsequent syringing to blast the impacted wax out.

Having had this procedure done a few times in recent years, I notice that afterwards I gain an improved sensitivity to some of the high pitched sounds that were drowned out before. Most everything sounds broader. First couple of times I thought it was just a papery echo from the water they pound against my inner ear, but now I notice its effect is different on each everyday sound I hear, so I'm pretty sure what I'm hearing is sounds that were there before but inaudible due to the wax blockage.

If y'like your music and soundtracks, make sure the doctor checks your ears out.

I had mine blasted and gutted clean earlier this year and, disappointingly, perceived no improvement. That was a real surprise considering how much gunk they scraped and flushed out.

It makes a huge improvement. I also learned NEVER clean your ears with q-tips, that's what compacts the wax in the first place.

I'm definitely aware if that; made that mistake and paid for it once. These days it still happens every so often even when I follow the rules.

My doc recommended I get some water in there while showering and just slosh it around a bit. Another friend of mine who's a physician said from time to time you can pour in some hydrogen peroxide to dissolve the wax as long as you rinse thoroughly after.

Mineral oil is also a good thing to use. If you think there is buildup a few drops in each ear at night time will soften the wax and will make removal a lot easier. I suffer from this very often (sometimes as fast as 5-6 months after a cleaning) I will apply the mineral oil for a few days and am usually capable of deep cleaning my ears by myself with a syringe.

Edit: do sit down when doing the cleaning as chances are you will get dizzy while doing so.
