Talking One Crazy Summer

Wow, just watched this massively underrated 80s comedy for the first time. It's a real shame this film seems to be forgotten to time. It's a prototypical 80s teen comedy in a lot of ways but you can tell it was crafted with a lot of care. Its stars John Cusack and Demi Moore, with a cast rounded out with Bobcat Goldthwait and....buger from revenge of the nerds. Sure a few jokes don't land but I laughed out loud a few times in a room all alone. This movie has some standout scenes like Godzilla crushing a neighborhood
Toho style, animated clips narrated by cusack, and the super fun boat race. I ordered the warner archive dvd as it's the only physical version in widescreen. It's worth every penny.

I have always loved this movie. I was just thinking about it too! Wish it would get a update.

I prefer Better Off Dead, but I'm not a huge fan of either. Bobcat Goldthwait is pretty funny in this though. It should get a Blu-ray release though since BOD does have one. Consistency!

Better off dead is better, but I really like both. Annoys me this never got a blu-ray. Only went HD on digital in the last few months. Have yet to see that version. Watch out for the cute and fluffy bunnies!

I attended a live improv comedy show last year and Joel Murray was part of the cast (Dave Foley, Greg Proops and Jeff Davis were the other three). He was quite good. Bill gets almost all of the attention but the other Murray brothers are very talented, too.

I loved this and Better Off Dead as a teen. Such a shame they weren’t hits and the director never got to do more like it.

Oh and that sun on the poster always made me think of Jack Nicholson.
