Default Sony S580 audio out of sync

I've been noticing that the audio is out of sync but only after pausing or rewinding/fast-forwarding. The only way to fix it is to restart the player. As it's not an issue all the time i don't think i need to change any delays in my receiver. I have tried both player and receiver decoding and a different Hdmi cable and the problem is still there. I've upgraded the firmware on the player and the tv.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or has any suggestions.

Thanks

I have the same player and haven't had this problem. The only time I've had audio sync problems has been when it's a problem with the disc...

Just bought S580 and having same sync problems when pause or FF/RW. Still waiting on solution. This is not a disc problem since it is happening on multiple movies.

Do you have a Yamaha receiver? While i was trying to find some info about this online i found quite a few discussions about intermitent sync issues with yamaha receivers. I borrowed another blu-ray player and couldn't make the fault happen though. I've noticed that every paramount title i try will go out of sync after only a few seconds paused.

I have a Yamaha receiver and I have had AV sync issues in the past. Many receivers have an AV sync adjustment in the set-up menu. You might want to check that the firmware on your receiver is also up to date.

Unhappy Similar Issue

My lip-sync issue is specific to playback of DVD discs on the Sony BDP-S580. My setup has changed recently with the purchase of a 1080p television, a replacement for my old 720p. I have not made any further experiments once I found my dedicated DVD player (a Pioneer DV-48AV) works with no sync issues. Here is my setup:

Display : Vizio M3D550KD
AVR : Marantz SR5005
Blu-Ray Player : Sony BDP-S580
DVD : Pioneer DV-48AV

I have turned on the ARC/CEC function (i.e. audio from the TV can be fed back to the receiver through the same HDMI cable that feeds video into the TV, TV commands volume control on receiver, TV and Blu-Ray will interactively command the other components to turn on/off and switch to the correct input source). I am not willing to turn this feature off even if it is the source of the audio delay. My Pioneer plays DVD discs with no delay. The Sony plays Blu-ray discs with no delay. This appears to me to be a bug in how the Sony player handles DVD video.
