Default Do you always choose Blu-ray over DVD?

I'm just curious to know if people always buy the Blu-ray version of a movie over the DVD version, I'm talking about all cases, not just new releases.

Here's an example, I was in HMV the other day looking at the sales and I was going to get Pulp Fiction 2 disc collectors edition on blu ray as part of a deal where I could get 3 blus for €15 but then I found the exact same edition on DVD for €2. I bought the DVD version and chose a different Blu-ray.

In my opinion some movies don't necessarily have to be bought on Blu-ray, they look almost identical on DVD with upscaling, big CGI movies with loads of special effects like Star Trek will look much better on blu then on DVD but for an older movie with less special effects and no big scenery shots or action sequences is it really worth paying the extra money when you could get it cheaper on DVD?
