I got the Box set having all 3 movies from Amazon UK. But when I tried all the discs, I find that the first disc has different aspect ratio then Spiderman 2 and 3. The first part plays on full screen on my HD TV but the other two are in scope format. Why is that?
Also this happens with some of my other discsc two like Sweeney Todd, Bonnie and Clyde etc. Why they play on full screen always while others dont? dosent playing on a full screen affects viewing quality? Like for example in the dark night only Imax scenes are in full screen and not the whole movie. Ofcourse they can made rest of the movie to be full screen as well but they didnt and I was thinking that maybe making it full screen makes picture quality difference! Your telly is 16:9 if you have a film in a different ratio you will have black bars on the sides 4:3 or top and bottom (anything higher than 16:9). The Dark Knight scenes were meant for IMAX 1.43:1 which has a higher resolution the rest was shot on normal film cameras 2.40:1. I could go into a lot of detail but you get the picture.... Pictures are from wikipedia. Last edited by chip75; 02-03-2011 at 10:12 PM. |

Has anyone had playback problems with the Spiderman trilogy disks from 2007? I tried mine today and the disks won't play on my Oppo, Sony BDP-35 or PC drive. None recognise any of the disks.
The website on the packaging (sonypictures.co.uk/bluray) doesn't exist anymore. Any ideas how I can contact them? |

My SPIDER-MAN 2 completely packed in - wouldn't play on ANY of the players I tried it on, just as you say. I had to buy the (thankfully cheap) reissue. But there was something very wrong with those Sony discs - I've heard of many other cases - and it still bothers me. I wonder how many other discs have/will suffer the same problem.

It's just because the second and third were filmed in a wider ratio.Make sure you're tv isn't overscanning or you'll be missing some of the picture. When you watch the first you should see very thin black bars at the top and bottom of the screen if you can't see any then you need to find a setting on the tv that's called just scan that's what samsung usual call it.I've just read some comments so gonna try my spidey 2 on my ps3 right now i'll come back with update.Mine works fine
