UPS MyChoice Premium - $15 for One Year - expires 8/30

Not sure if this is the best section to post this. However, I figured there are lots of us here that have our blus shipped with UPS Sure Post and getting those upgraded to UPS ground for free would be nice.

Promo code CTLOV42Y7 gets you a year of My Choice premium for $15 instead of $40. The code expires 8/30/20.

I order a lot from Target and they always ship via Sure Post. After just a few shipments it will have paid for itself at $15 for the year.

Man, it was a pain to find. If you have the free My Choice membership, go to Preferences and then Manage my memberships. Then click on the three dots on the left and select upgrade. Then you can enter the promo code there.

Once you have upgraded go back to the three dots and click on Edit. From there go to Package Upgrades and select Automatically upgrade all packages. This will make all Sure Post packages automatically get upgraded to Ground.

Just remember to cancel in a year before it auto renews for the $40 price.

If I ever have anything from UPS, 90% of the time they ditch it off on the post office.

They do have something for me that got shipped last Sunday night. Hasn't moved from UPS yet according to the tracker. But I have a gut feeling when it does, it will get dumped to USPS a few days later.

So is SurePost when UPS "dumps it off" to USPS?

If so, it seems like it's about 50/50.

Heck, at $15 seems like it would be worth it though between my Target, Best Buy, and other retails stores I order from.

I hate those promos where you have to remember to cancel though haha.

I don't know, it might still be worth it at $40. Though, if Target, Best Buy, Deep Discount, etal would just use reasonably protective packaging, there would be a lot less need to pay an upgrade fee just to help ensure our orders don't arrive destroyed. Most of our straight USPS deliveries arrive fine (with the exception of amazon, which I'm all but convinced uses USPS these days mostly for insurance coverage on high risk dissatisfaction deliveries like negligently packaged media and poorly inspected warehouse deals merchandise) as do most of our straight UPS deliveries. But the track record of orders that get transferred between the two is horrible.

I'm not sure how it works, but that's the point of upgrading Surepost to Ground, no more USPS handoffs.

I’m sure I am in the minority but my deliveries pretty much all arrive in great shape and on time. Actually since the USPS recently eliminated overtime, my mail has been arriving much earlier. I used to get my deliveries between six and seven at night. Now the last few weeks mail has been getting delivered before five. Makes me wonder if the postal worker for my area was just moving a bit slower to rack up overtime.

Surepost and MailInnovations both hand the package to USPS.

Surepost packages can be upgraded to UPS Ground and mine usually come at least a day earlier since they don't have to hand it to USPS and wait for them to do their thing , MI packages can not.

That's the main advantage to the Premium, but there are a few other minor perks.

I've been Premium most of the last 5-6 years -- usually with some sort of promo, free or $1-2/month. I couldn't find a promo a year or so ago so I opted for the full $40 -- almost no regrets.

The last two Christmas seasons they've had a promo to encourage you to change deliveries to an Access Point (Main office or UPS store) with a bonus of up to $15 Target GC AND 3 extra months of Premium for free. With the timing of mine I ended up paying $40, but getting $30 Target and 6 months of premium for free so not really a bad deal. The UPS Store is only a mile away, no packages on the porch for the pirates to watch, and the packages deliver at 10am instead of bumping around on the truck all day and coming at 6-9pm.

With these promos and with an active account, I have never found a way to extend my Premium with doing a full cancellation first. Just have to hope another one shows up in October when my current one expires.

That sounds pretty encouraging.

I don't know if I have 2 to 2 employees who don't know what they are doing, or if it's some crazy policy, but I live about 3 minutes away from a UPS Store. I have been told on 2 occasions that if I get my packages sent there, there's a fee to pick them up! A FEE to pick up my own packages?! I've never attempted to have one sent there after that. I also have a UPS Access point locker close to my house, but I've never seen such unreliable garbage in my life. Every time I try to pick up a package there's a problem, and I have to end up calling the customer service for help.

Amazon Lockers on the other hand work like a dream!

I can't prove it, but my conspiracy theory is that when I use UPS MyChoice to make my deliveries quicker, Amazon Prime will default to shipping more packages with SurePost since they think it'll get there just as quick as 2 Day shipping.

Super annoying that Amazon keeps shipping my stuff with SurePost to save a buck.

I don't think Amazon has any idea who is a MyChoice customer, much less a Premium customer who has opted for SurePost upgrades -- the upgrade isn't automatic, you have to choose to change packages to UPS Ground (or at least opt into the automatic upgrade preference).

Plenty of my Amazon packages still come plain UPS Ground (or 2-3 day) plus various Amazon and USPS.

I mean the algorithm tracks how long each service takes to get delivered, so if they think SurePost will get to my address in the same amount of time, then it spits out a SurePost label instead of a 2 Day or Ground.

On a related gripe, I can understand items taking longer for processing/handling, but there's no excuse to slow down Prime shipping that I paid for.

You can actually set it so it won't auto-renew. There's a checkbox when you go to Preferences >> Manage My Memberships >> Actions >> Edit >> Name and Address



I'm sure they'll send a reminder email about renewing, in case you want to (or there's another promo code available).

So how will this work if im on amazon or best buy and want to upgrade shipping but not have those sites charge me for the upgrade, do I need to login to Ups 1st or will amazon, best buy, and barnes and noble get that info once I select the UPS upgrade? Thanks for any info

You change a setting with UPS MyChoice and it'll automatically upgrade all SurePost packages to Ground without your intervention.
