Last night, I asked WA on Twitter if the original series was coming to Blu-ray, but they haven't replied. It was worth a shot. I'm happy to get a Blu-ray of S4!

I was worried this wouldn’t come out at all. Thankfully it will. Still hoping they make an announcement for s1-3 to coincide with this.

I asked on Twitter too. Glad to get more Veronica on blu ray, especially since I did love the new episodes! Hopefully the original series isn’t too far behind.

Hopefully the entire series! I've been wanting this one on Blu-ray for years.

Since they are calling this release "The Complete First Season" I highly doubt that Warner has any plans to release the real first season on Blu-ray.

Universal calls the new Will and Grace "The Revival - Season One." It's probably due to Veronica Mars being on Hulu now, despite Hulu calling it season 4. They should at least call it season 4, because that's what it is, even if there no plans to release 1-3.

Everybody should contact WB and WAC and tell them to correct it, and then release the ACTUAL first season. and second and third, on BD. :P

Yeah they should at least call it Veronica Mars: Insert Subtitle-Season 1.

Saying that I just binged all 8 episodes this week and really enjoyed it for the most part.

Well, I'll be buying this, just to keep the support for Veronica Mars alive. That said, the labelling doesn't give me high hopes that the original run is on their radar at all for a Blu-Ray release...

This season got lots of hate from like, half the fanbase. They'd make more money releasing the original seasons.

Yeah some of the negative reaction has been very strong. For fans like me who like the show for being a mystery/detective series - I think we were quite happy.
For fans who are into the show to have their undergarments moistened for certain actors..they’re outraged.

My biggest criticism is the opening with the True Detective rip-off titles and awful theme song cover.

I am really surprised at the wording for the title since even Hulu is referring to it as Season 4. This isn’t a Twin Peaks thing where the everyone wanted a different name for it.

It seems a lot of the hate is coming from what happens in the final episode. Not spoiling it but some of the reactions have been extremely over the top (especially the people threatening to cancel their Hulu subscription)

I overall liked it and found the mystery engaging. But yeah the new cover of the theme was beyond awful.

Weirdest reason yet for custom Blu-ray cover art, but why not? Luckily, it looks very easy to Photoshop from "first" to "fourth".

I don’t understand how they could literally put this out as season one without any kind of differentiation.

I kinda already don’t like that the movie is just called Veronica Mars, but this...

Of course I’m buying it though.

I mean, if WAC REALLY wanted to be nice, they could just release a giant box set on Blu-Ray of the original run, and call it the Complete Original Series, or something like that (I remember Torchwood got a similar box set prior to the Miracle Day season, labeled the Complete UK Series, for example). I could work with that...

Crossing fan bases here, the best to hope for at this point is this season sells impressively like Batman: Mask of the Phantasm did and leads to the original seasons(/series?) getting released in a massive box set with everything.

Maybe they’ll try to get the attention of a certain part of the fan base and release Veronica Mars: The LoVe Years: Season 1-3

The absurdity of calling this season 1 overshadowed that it might be a good sign that there will be more

The thing about Torchwood though is it was still the same series, Starz just insisted on it being called a new series because they joined in with production... but it didn't incorrectly call itself season 1, it called itself Miracle Day. "The Complete Original UK Series" just meant there was no US involvement at all yet. With VM, you can't have two season 1's of the same series... and they can say it's not the "same" series but it is. It's just going to cause confusion, especially with new fans.

If they are dead set on this being "season one" they need to elaborate on the series, copy Will & Grace and call it "Veronica Mars: The Revival/The Return - The Complete First Season," or drop the season number all together and retroactively add a subtitle like Torchwood does and Strike Back does in the UK but stupidly doesn't in the US... call it "Veronica Mars: Spring Break" or something and any future seasons could have them as well relating to the arc that season.
