53 will have the Marvell Qdeo chip, a better built chassis, and dual HDMI outs. Basically, its a direct competitor for the Oppo 93. The Mediatek chip in the other Pios is nice.

1. You say you ordered the SC-57, I hope not on Amazon or anywhere else online. Elite products are not authorized for online sale and you will not get a manufacturer's warranty.

2. The BDP-43 and the whole 40 series is being phased out. The new Elite models are the 52 & 53. There is also a new regular Pioneer, the BDP-140. The BDP-43 and the entire 40 series did not get great reviews and are somewhat mediocre so I would recommend getting one of the new players.

4. What should you get? The BDP-53 doesn't come out till December. One of it's main advantages over the BDP-52 besides better build is the Qdeo scaler. Since the SC-57 has the Qdeo scaler in it I would suggest getting the BDP-52 which is available now. Oh, and buy for a local dealer

For those still interested in BDP-53FD in Canada, or should I say in Quebec to be more precise, the chain store Brault & Martineau is selling it for $399 CAD. They are an authorized seller. I couldn't find it anywhere else for less.

Amazon Canada doesn't carry it and Amazon USA is selling it for $599 USD (not including shipping) when Pioneer CDN & USA both have a suggested retail price of $499 !!!!

Anyways, just wanted to share the info.
