This didn't receive much attention during its brief theatrical run last fall, but it was one of my favorites of the year. Very dreamy and poignant, with a terrific performance by the great Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, The Kids Are All Right, Jane Eyre), as well as a nice acting debut by Henry Hopper (Dennis' son). I'm very excited to own it tomorrow. And I would recommend it to anyone, particularly those who've enjoyed Van Sant's films in the past and/or films such as Harold and Maude and The Squid and the Whale.

This also has one of the year's more intriguing bonus features: a feature-length silent version of the film, shot by the director as an experiment and to force the cast to try to express as much as they could without dialogue.

I watched the movie last night for the first time and I think it is a lot better then the reviews let on. I really enjoyed it and I know I will definitely want to watch it again soon.

I liked this movie alot, too. Great performances all around.
