Looks like SE is starting it's all out media blitz for the re release of Final Fantasy XIV, according to information everything has been completely redesigned from the ground up including

Server structure
All new separate PC and PS3 clients no more ports!
New Engine designed specifically for the game
The world has also been hand drawn and redesigned
Ps3 release in 2012
PC release in 2012

Does anyone know when this game is coming out? This year is halfway over and still haven't heard any news on the release date.

Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was shown at Gamescom 2012 in Germany on August 15, 2012, during the stage event. The Director, Naoki Yoshida showed what has been developed so far and said - "We believe Final Fantasy 14 is a starting point, and that players joining us will think 'oh wow, this is great, I'll see what they can do with Final Fantasy 15 or 16'. Over a long time we'll try and regain their trust, but it is something we as a company must put effort into, long-term." I think Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn beta is expected to launch on PC later this year, with the PS3 version coming in 2013, though release dates were not mentioned. The news revealed that those currently playing Final Fantasy XIV needn’t abandon their characters, as the switchover to A Realm Reborn will be worked into the narrative, with an in-game event facilitating the switch-off of the servers running the original game as player data will be migrated across to A Real Reborn at some point during the beta testing.

SE took the final fantasy XIV servers offline today with perhaps the greatest cutscene and setup for the ARR release I have seen in a very long time. This truly makes ARR feel like a true FF game.

Also looks like they are 2 months and 2 weeks behind schedule currently.

Worldwide Alpha testing scheduled for Nov 26th

Game release on PC and PS3 possibly April/May no set date yet

Also announced PS3 clients need PC gamekey to play on PC and vice versa so unlike XI you need to have purchased both versions of the game to be compatible across all systems.

PS3 Beta apps have gone up for FFXIV:ARR PS3 will not begin being tested until Phase 3 of Beta which according to the roadmap is not until probably april. Closed Beta is scheduled to begin in Feb. For those that bought FFXIII back in the day and received a PS3 beta code you do get PS3 Beta priority as long as you still have the code.

I applied, not thrilled about waiting until April, I can't trust SE to keep to schedule that far in advance. So I do expect for this PS3 BETA to never happen.

I had FF XIII but got rid of it long ago, so no chance I still have the code.

Just got email confirmation that I got into the PS3 beta for FF XIV. Hopefully its not the crap game that its been built up to be and that they were able to improve things

there is no mention of an NDA in the email that was sent.

Nda also have nothing to do with someone simply stating they are in a beta. Only refers to talking of things within the beta itself. I signed up online for the beta as well asdled the video off psn for a chance. Id really like to be able to try it out myself

Man I quit my FFXI addiction when I met my wife as that game consumed me!!! Not sure I want to head back in the direction lol I do miss me some mmorpg though
