Default General question about Hermes

When and why would Play.com use them?

Is it when you choose the paid delivery option and not the free delivery. I normally get my deliveries with the Royal Mail. I've had them deliver a 6 steelbook bulk buy at once. The only time it was different was I had a delivery last Sunday afternoon. And that was a white van for only 3 steelbooks but I signed for that.

I live near Romford.

delivery options dont seem to matter all mine have been free delivery

1 Steel = Royal Mail
2 Steels = You Got Herpes!

I understand Play.com like to make sure larger packages are signed for and arrive securely. But Herpes are beyond useless, they delivery when and whenever they feel like and if your not home will just lob your item over the fence or leave it on your front door step.

Agree with the other guys experiences above.

Hermes tend to deliver 2/3+ SB's regardless of postage option taken.

They are total shite. I ordered a Kindle from Amazon and they used Hermes to send it. I wasnt in, they left it outside in the rain and the wrong side of my properties security gates. Someone nicked it. I know this as i have the whole thing on CCTV.

Amazon immediately sent another via Royal mail special delivery. The usual Hermes driver hasnt been seen since, so i guess they got sacked or something !

I think we should start a campaign to get Play to stop using them. The worst courier company ever.

Pretty much what everyone else has said -- Hermes probably charge less for delivering heavier items (such as more than one steelbook) than Royal Mail, which is why they're used often.

These type of outfits tend to make a per delivery charge so don't increase the price as the weight goes up unlike the Royal Mail. Is why I have seen them for my online wine deliveries and also thebookpeople use one of these outfits.

Is something the Royal Mail need to think about when pricing parcels and trying to win contracts for the major online companies.
