I just recently watched this on Showtime I think and it was really good. The first 50 minutes or so is a documentary about the Atlanta Pop Festival which I thought was really interesting. Then Jimi shines in an awesome performance. I would highly recommend it!

Didn't realize this was on Showtime. I'll try to check it out.

I'm looking forward to this release. Does the documentary feature the entire performance or simply an abbreviated version of the concert? I had a VHS of it years ago, and if I remember correctly, the entire show was captured, so there's no reason why the entire performance shouldn't be part of the package.

The Amazon listing says 102 minutes. If it's not the whole performance, it should be enough to satisfy. A CD, and 2xLP, were released in August. The CD is apprx. 58 minutes by rough addition of song times, so it very well may be the full performance. The Blu Ray will also feature additional footage not shown on the Showtime presentation. More details here. http://www.jimihendrix.com/us/news/j...ndrix-electric

From what I saw it was the entire performance. Then afterwards there are people looking back and talking about it. I have to say watching him play on July 4th, late at night, Star Spangled Banner, and fireworks going off in the background... DAMN! And to think... 2 months later he was gone.

And yes the entire show was recorded... they go into detail about that to. I will say there is some male frontal nudity in case that freaks anybody out lol.

I know the cd version is missing the final song "Hey Baby, New Rising Sun" that was the coda for the concert! For whatever reason why they left that off, I have no idea? So it's not the entire concert. I can't remember, but i think at least one or two other song's was left off the cd release.

From what I understand, Jimi kinda messed it up, if you can even call it that...similar to how he's in the wrong key for All Along The Watchtower....in any case it should have been included for historical purposes.

I have the Showtime documentary saved on my DVR, I've been anticipating a Blu Ray release of this show for a long time. The footage used varies greatly from the Japanese Laserdisc....different angles, but there's some really nice footage here. It looks pretty decent for it being such a dimly lit show.

Hey folks:

I've been meaning to pick this up since it was released but the Version on Amazon says it's "Playback Region B/2."

Has anyone seen a Region 1? I live in SF Ca.

I found a D/L of the Showtime version to check-out. It's 1:29 Total Time. The first 33 Minutes are Interviews and snippets of the Show and other Shows, then the Concert starts - Then Stops around 1:20, so the last 9 minutes are more Interviews and snippets.

The Interviews and snippets are about 42 Minutes which makes the Entire Concert here only about 47 minutes.

Is this the same as the Released Version?
