Default Blu-ray on PS3

Hi,

I have a HD TV connected to my PS3 when I watch blu-ray you can see dots flying around the screen, you can see them more on dark areas, its not very noticable but its very anoyying also I can see red around people for seconds at some points, sounds like it is not set up very well, any ideas?

Thanks

Assuming you are using a halfway decent HDMI cable, it might just be the Blu-ray movie. Some of the earlier ones were terrible (Terminator for instance). Try watching a newer Blu-ray, The Warriors and Pirates of the Carribean are really well done transfers.

The plating on the tips make no difference in HDMI like it would in regular component cables... i know i noticed this too with sleepy hollow and goodfellas but then it all went away when i popped in newer releases like 300 or Last Samurai

Cool Never had this problem

Is it every time or a one time thing? I use my PS3 for my player too. I have NEVER seen anything like this and I own 30+ movies. I'm wondering if: 1) you are running it through a switcher or receiver before the tv? or 2) if you have changed any settings on the PS3 so that they are not compatible with your tv?

Sounds to me like your sharpness is set too high, lower your sharpness settings it will eliminate some of the dots.

Is he referring to the film grain that some HD movies have? X-Men 3 is very grainy, I thought this was a bad transfer but apparently it's film grain..?
