I really need to get these, there are loads of episodes I've not seen. I wonder if they will release a complete set on blu-ray with the other series upscaled ?

I highly doubt they'll upscale the first two series from SD. Much as it's a Who spin-off, SJA isn't exactly the most profitable show the BBC has when it comes to Blu-ray/DVD releases, heck we didn't even yet Series 3 on Blu-ray, yet it was filmed in HD.

The only reason The Next Doctor was upscaled for The Complete Specials is because all the other episodes were shot in HD, so it didn't cost too much as it was only one 60 minute episode. With SJA you have one 60 minute episode and eleven 25-30 minute episodes, so there's a lot more to upscale and would likely cost more money than it's worth.

Although I do hope the BBC will up out Series 3 on Blu-ray. Hopefully alongside Series Five, but it's unlikely.

Shame they were never able to complete Series Five, but nonetheless a fitting tribute to Liz Sladen. I just hope the BBC do some proper tribute for this set, instead of just including another classic Who story (although Pyramids of Mars is a superb story).

Series 3 was actually shot in HD, but was never given a Blu-ray release, and sadly looks like it never will now due to the BBC being so shortsighted.

As for the tribute, I'd too would love taht to appear, but having had a look at the details for the set it seems they will be a much longer specially-made tribute.

I may still get the complete set, just to have the whole seres in one set, even if Series 4 and 5 are on DVD.

Unfortunately, it looks like this disc is locked, unlike season four. That's really disappointing...ugh...Not happy about that. I was really looking forward to picking this up to.

It only says Region B/2 on Amazon UK. And it doesn't say Region free next to it like Sherlock, Sarah Jane Series 4, and Torchwood: Miracle Day said. So that indicates to me it's locked.

I wouldn't trust everything Amazon put on theair listings. Many region-free titles still don't list it mentioned in their titles, so it wouldn't suprise me if the same applies to SJA 5.

If it helps, I recently noticed on Amazon.com that SJA 4 is being released on Blu-ray in the US on 10th January, so the same may happen with SJA 5 as well when that comes out there.

But I appreciate you wanting it sooner.

You know me, I like to have it as soon as I can. I'm importing Sherlock, and imported Sarah Jane season 4 and Torchwood Miracle Day as soon as possible. The releases usually take forever over here. So I hope that this finale season doesn't get locked, because I would be really sad if that ended up being the case.

Well I'd import it just to see, because it's unlikely the BBC would start region-locking their releases, they don't seem bother by such things, so mcuh so they don't even but the region logos on the cases.

Similar story here, I don't come on here much that often now either, so don't worry about the mesage. I only really come to the UK part of the forum once in a while for upcoming releases, because I'm just too busy.

Good news and bad news - the disc is indeed codefree. It starts fine, until the playback issues start.

Quoting myself from Gallifreybase.com:

Upon inserting it into the player, I get the legal disclaimer, all the logos (2|E, BBC) and the audio announcement (that voice saying: "Sarah Jane Adventures, Series 5, Blu-ray edition.), then - nothing.
The player freezes, no matter how many times I try.
No use hitting the menu button, that function is locked during the logos.

*sigh* Anybody else having this problem?

Do you happen to be in the US? as it sounds like the main menu and episodes are 50hz so while it might be region free and play the intros which are 1080p/24fps you will need a player that can handle 50hz material to actually watch the episodes.

^ I happen to be in Germany, using a US Blu-ray player. My combination of player/TV has never had any problems with any of the many BBC releases I own (which do indeed run at 50 Hz).

Just two weeks ago, I got series 2 of Sherlock, and it plays beautifully.
