United Kingdom Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (Director's Cut) - 18th July 2016

One of the most celebrated and essential chapters in Star Trek lore, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is now presented in this spectacular Director’s Cut from legendary filmmaker Nicholas Meyer. On routine training maneuvers, Admiral James T. Kirk seems resigned that this may be the last space mission of his career. But Khan is back, with a vengeance. Aided by his exiled band of genetic supermen, Khan (Ricardo Montalban)–brilliant renegade of 20th century Earth–has raided Space Station Regula One, stolen a top secret device called Project Genesis, wrested control of another Federation starship, and now schemes to set a most deadly trap for his old enemy Kirk...with the threat of a universal Armageddon!

Bonus Features:

COMMENTARY BY: Director Nicholas Meyer (Director's Cut and Theatrical Version)
COMMENTARY BY: Director Nicholas Meyer and Manny Coto (Theatrical Version)
Text commentary by Michael and Denise Okuda (Director's Cut)
Library computer (Theatrical Version)
NEW: The Genesis Effect: Engineering the Wrath of Khan
Farewell: A tribute to Ricardo Montalban
Plus: Production, Storyboard, Star Trek Universe Bonus

The Steelbook is actually cheaper ... and it has original artwork. Hopefully this drops down to around £12 and I'll cancel my US pre-order.

Do I or don't I?

Wasn't at all interested in 4K but then this is talked about as a release for 4K BDs first year and I sat up and took notice. So I might wait for the 4K disc, even if I can't play it yet. Hopefully it'll be dual format 4K + BD.

I think all the UHD BD releases will have BDs with them too.

Think I will stick with the US release, out a month earlier and only £8.69 delivered.

Maybe we won't get the 4K disc in the UK. I've lost optimism given a minority of announced US releases have UK release dates.

Look at the other pics on the Zavvi page - there's a shot of all the Trek movie spines in steelbooks so I guess they're doing them all.

Pity only Khan is getting re-done as some of them are awful PQ wise.

Already got the 1-10 Bluray boxset but may have to pick this up for the better PQ and director's cut.

Is the Zavvi steelbook guaranteed to be the new BD of Wrath of Khan or is it like some of their other recent steelbooks a cynical way of clearing out the old disks ?

Yeah they too, like Italy, have TMP, clearly showing The Director's Edition. Nothing in the blurb about it of course.

EDIT: I have just e-mailed Zavvi as to the nature of the content of the TMP steelbook. Expect them to confirm it's not The Directors Edition.

I can't see how it could possibly be the Directors Edition. At least not the one with the updated special effects.

Just the same temp artwork as the Italian steelbook, the only Directors Edition will be Wrath of Khan.

It's doubtful, the Italian release is listed as 132 minutes, the Director's Edition is 136 minutes. I think it's just an oversight with the artwork or Paramount just don't give a monkey's.
