Germany Share HDD attched to LG Blue Ray over network?

Hello guys,

I got my first blue ray home theater(LG HX906SB) yesterday. Everything works fine straight out of box. It connected to WiFi straight out of box and could browse the PC HDD and play videos from it as well.

Now some questions:
  1. When I play the same video file from PC HDD with VLC player and otherwise through LG browser, the quality of plygin with LG appears to be much better. Is it due to the upscaling it does?
  2. Can the attached USB HDD be accessed from other PC or tablets in the same network?I found the LG remote app in android which can connect to the LG player to control its functions. However when I tried to make an FTP/manual connect,it did not work! Can it be made possible?
  3. Is there a possibility to spin down/switch off the HDD after lets say 10mins of no use?

Thanks guys!
