Australia Help a brother out??

Hey guys. Even though it says on the database that Blade from the US is region free, it is region A locked. Is there anybody with the region B version of Blade that is willing to swap for a mint condition just out of the shrink-wrapped region A version?? If anybody is willing and able to do this, PM me. I'm on the Gold Coast in QLD.
Cheers,
Carcuss

The U.S version of Blade from WB is definitely region free, you must have been sent the Canadian Alliance region A locked release.

Yeah, it's definitely region free. The only A locked one is the Alliance one like you say but seeing as though that's the cropped one that's not a good swap.

Carcuss, not sure where you bought it but you may want to get in touch with them if they've supplied you with something other than what you thought you were buying. Or at least check the link where you bought it - you may have inadvertently purchased the Alliance disc.

This is the WB disc: http://www.amazon.com/Blade-Wesley-S...dp/B007KW5MFE/

This is the Alliance one: http://www.amazon.com/Blade-Blu-ray-...dp/B0020TS5LK/

If you did buy the Alliance disc I'm not sure you'll get a swap here. It pales to the WB disc in a number of departments. Might have to sling it on eBay or the like.

Yes Cevo. Upon looking at the disc, it is the Alliance disc. I am willing to pay shipping costs for any region free member who has the region B version that they would like to swap. I am surprised that Amazon have sent me a Canadian disc.
Cheers,
Carcuss

Thanks Atex. The serial number on the Ammy paperwork quotes the Canadian version. Will look at my options for a return or just swallow the loss and buy the UK or Aus version. I think i only paid a tenner for it. Bugger!

If I didn't already give my U.S version to brother the other week when I bought the local release, then I would have just given it to. Sorry mate.

Thanks for all the advice fella's. I have decided to swallow the loss and pick up the Aussie release at JB. I checked Amazon UK and their copy is cropped. The JB site says that their release is 2:40.1 so i will buy from there. The help and advice is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Carcuss

Amazon UK release isn't cropped: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blade-Blu-ra...dp/B0057OCLHY/

Ignore Amazon specs. And when you watch be sure to select the 6.1 track (if I remember correctly the 5.1 is the default).

Warner in the UK has used the same transfer as New Line in the US and it's the same one here in Australia so any of those will do the trick.

I have to admit to being a bit bewildered by the specs listed for Blu's from Amazon. I have a friend who is region free and will take my Canadian copy. He doesn't care about the aspect ratio. I'm happy to buy the Aussie release for $14 from JB. I'm a little miffed that i had to find out the hard way that the disc i received was the Canadian one, but i couldn't be arsed sending it back and waiting for it to be re-delivered. Will be heading to JB on Thursday. I take my elderly Dad out on Thursdays and he wanders around looking at the televisions and computers while i check out the Blu-rays. Will pick up the disc then. Once again, i thank all of you who offered assistance and advice.
Cheers,
Carcuss

Hey Carcuss,
In my experience, if Amazon (both US and UK) sends the wrong thing in an order to OZ or NZ, it generally waives the need to return the original, since it's just too expensive. Of course, if you (understandably) don't really want to wait another round of shipping time, or you ordered the Canadian version by mistake in the first place, then it probably makes sense to go for the new OZ release. I've got it myself, and it's a nice transfer, and in the OAR.

Hey Mac. You are right. I can't be buggered to wait for a re-shipping even if they do it for nix. I have heard nothing but good things about the Aussie release so am happy just to buy that one.
Cheers,
Mark.

Picked up the Aus copy of Blade from JB for $12.98. Watched it last night. Stellar transfer and the sound in my headphones was very powerful. Have offloaded the Alliance cropped copy for free to a good home. Thanks for the help, fella's.
Cheers,
Mark.

Should have emailed amazon and told them to send you the US version and not Canadian.
