Default Please help with sub issue...

I noticed over the weekend that my sub is no longer producing any sound. I have tried every setting on the sub and in the receiver that I can think of. I have also tried different cables from the receiver to the sub. The sub is getting power, as the lights on the front display of it are on. Not sure if this is a receiver issue or the sub is somehow dead. Any ideas?

What sub model?

1)be sure the cable is connected to the proper terminals on sub and receiver. If anyone accidentally pulled it out of the receiver for example----it is very easy to re-connect to the wrong RCA jack back there(there is usually tons all bunched tightly together)

2)Go into the receiver's speaker setup menu and check that all speakers are set to small and subwoofer is set to on/yes. Receiver/processors can reset themselves at times.

3)Also be sure you aren't using a *mode* like "direct pure" or something that is 2 channel only.

I've checked connections and the receiver options. Everything is set how it should be. The sub is a Velodyne DPS10. It's probably about 8-9yrs old.

Velodyne has very good support. I'd email them direct and go through the trouble shooting process.

Once you rule out settings, cables, and connections as variables...there is not much left except an issue with the sub amp or driver. (most likely the amp).

If I have to guess, it is the sub's amp. That is the number one issue with most subs.

If I have an old AVR, could I just plug it in and only hook the sub up, then go through the AVR's menu and see if a test tone on the sub works to rule out an issue with the AVR?
