A scanner darkly was a really stupid movie. You have to be drugged-out or skitzo to enjoy it.

Corpse. It's a work of art.

Tough to compare the two. Corpse Bride isn't a great movie but looks awesome and I'm a sucker for Tim Burton. On the other hand Philip K. Dick is a genius and the animation is interesting and also looks amazing. I have both. Sorry this was of no help.

I'd go with Corpse Bride. The PQ is great and it's an enjoyable movie. Scanner for me was a watch once only.

Do you feel like more of a "Twisted" love story or a story about druggies?

Personally i would prefer a Scanner Darkly, it was a bit more enjoyable for me, though i am sure it would have been alot more enjoyable if i was drugged up like stated in previous posts

I'd STRONGLY recommend CB over SD. Great PQ & cool movie. Scanner Darkly, not so much.

I have both. If I had to give up one of those two from my collection, I would give up Scanner Darkly. I did like Scanner though. I’m sure it’s better if you read the book first or at least go into the movie knowing something about the storyline. Otherwise it is super confusing. PQ was great on both.

Corpse Bride by far.
SD was a tepid movie hidden behind an irritating gimmick

Either I was too tired or just too stupid to realize the genius but I fell asleep halfway into Scanner Darkly.

I rented scanner darkly on dvd a while back. It wasnt good enough for me to make a copy for myself. I really didnt like corpse bride either. Id go with two different movies to choose between.

Out of all the titles on Amazon it comes down to these two? You must have one helluva extensive collection.

Man hard choice. I am a long term PKD fan, and the Scanner Darkly story was a great adaptation, but that awful rotoscoping they used in the film just ruined it. I honestly can't see it looking any better in HD than SD.

reading some of these posts makes me smile, my friends who didnt like scanner are for the most parts the ones that didn't finish it. most the people that watched it in its entirety loved it, but it is different and a love it or hate it movie, i would say as long as your not against drug usage in your movies you will be ok as i liked this watching it 100% sober.

corpse i was really disappointed in, one of the few tim burton works i did not like at all, and all i could think while watching this was "i wish i was watching nightmare before christmas". im sure the animation looks pretty cool on blu although i have heard scanner is considered a high tier if not demo worthy blu in terms of PQ

I can't vouch for Scanner 'cause I haven't seen it. But I own Corpse and love it. Tim Burton+Johnny Depp+Helena Bonham Carter=GOLD everytime!
