Default Wall of Sucker Punch

I have put alot of time into this what I can only call a shrine to my favorite movie. It's still not done and as I get the rest of the pieces for it I will update this thread. Enjoy:

Woah, someone in here must love hawt chix! lol
Just kidding, cool stuff, a bit much but yeah.
I haven't seen the movie yet, I'm looking forward to see what it's like.
Got it in a SteelBook, just liked the look of it.
Too bad it's not the same as it's pictures on the SteelBook's release-page on this website. But oh well...

Question

Here's a question for you madlost: Why are you so crazy about this movie?

I mean, I haven't seen it yet, I might or might not watch in within the hour.
But something that's putting me off is that it has these ratings:

IMDB: 6.1/10 from 91,098 users - Metascore: 33/100 - Rotten Tomatoes: Tomatometer 23%* / Audience 48% at 82k+ votes Avg. of 3.1/5

*RT-comment:
"It's technically impressive and loaded with eye-catching images, but without characters or a plot to support them,
all of Sucker Punch's visual thrills are for naught.
"

That's not very positive, yet you place it above the art of writing that is 'Inglourious Basterds'. Although your top 5 is kind of random anyway.
So, what's to this movie? Do people just not get it? Or is it a very personal thing perhaps?

I'm very open to different kinds of things though.
I'm also not one to quickly underrate something or disapprove of something just because everyone else does it.
So I'm definitely going to see this, even if it's just for the visuals. But I like different movies as well.

Damage Inc.

I love this movie and though I can see where those ratings come from I have to say you should at the very least give it a watch open mindedly.

There are alot of people out there that get "lost" in these movies. It's 80% visual and 20% story if we are being honest, but it is highly entertaining. Kinda like a B movie script with a big budget for effects. But I love B movies so maybe I'm biased...

Just took a look at your collection/wishlist and saw these titles

13 Assassins, Donnie Darko, Machete...

I think you'll like it.

Do note that I haven't seen those 3 titles you mentioned. But I do think I would like them.
I also like many films that are generally not appreciated all that much.
To just come up with a quick example... ahm... 'The Mask', I love it, it's a carefully crafted film, but most people would watch it for laughs only.
As for 'Sucker Punch', I'm a little worried that it's just plain stupid when I'm trying to like it.
I always go and see a film with a positive attitude, cause I wánt to like it, otherwise I wouldn't even start watching it.
I'm just worried that I'll be bored halfway through because of painful performances and plots or something.
That doesn't mean I'm someone who quickly says "there's no story" or "the story is stupid",
cause I recently watched 'The Strangers', which literally has NO story, but it was reasonable because of atmosphere and performances.
But I'm kind of afraid it might indeed be an art-fest without any goal or something.

In any way, if there are some good to reasonable performances and silliness is kept low, with a goal even if it's simple,
and it's clear they put a lot of care in making this piece, that would help a lot.
I will just have to see, but I really wonder what people, who like or even love it, find there is to this movie.

I might watch it THIS night, if there isn't some other movie that gets priority. :P

One other question:
I have this BD-release that has both the Theatrical and Extended cuts, but what's not in the Theatrical cut without any spoilers?
Are there some rougher images/scenes or actually things they left out to pace it better or something for Theater-release?

I cant give a full and proper response right now but if you do decide to watch it tonight the extended cut is the way to go. It adds some very important parts to the story. As soon as I get home I will make a complete post compiling my thoughts on it.

Alright, I think I might just go see it soon. Not sure what else to watch. XD
I also have 'A Scanner Darkly' and 'A.I.' lying around currently. Can they compete? :P

I really love this movie. I have gotten a lot of people to watch it, but none of them liked it. I don't see why it gets slated so much. I'd love that sword. Was it expensive?
