A grieving detective in the near future (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) hunts down criminals who trade artificial humans on the black market. In the fight to end AI exploitation, an underground resistance attempts to infiltrate him by sabotaging the programming of the artificial human assigned as his companion (Elena Kampouris) to behave like his late wife. She begins to question her reality as memories of a past life begin to surface in a world where nothing is as it seems. SP Media Group's Wifelike opens in select theatres and is available on digital on August 12, 2022.

It’s past August 12th and there are no reviews on Metacritic

It’s past August 12th and I don’t know where it’s playing or streaming?

I saw it was on VUDU, so no doubt a VOD focused release

In reading the description of the plot line for this film in the OP, there seemed to be an interesting premise here, so I tried to watch this film the other day. Try as I did, I just could not stay with it. I gave it a little more than an hour and gave up.

The entire endeavor just came off as flat and lifeless; in a word, boring. The female lead (Elena Kampouris) shows signs of interest in her portrayal, which is a bit ironic since she is the android central to the storyline. All of the "human" characters come off as the ones incapable of showing any signs of life here and that leaves the entire film in need of a recuscitator. As noted by a previous poster here, there are elements of an interesting type of Blade Runner like idea but I almost feel embarrassed to mention the two films in the same sentence because any comparison between the two abruptly ends right there.

I wish I could have recommended this one, and maybe some will find it to be better than I did. For me, it just didn't work.

Somewhat of a good setup, yet really poor execution. The way it ends is pretty terrible.

With a large budget and in a psick directors hand, could have been great
