Awesome! This sketch-remake-compilation was the first Python-stuff I ever saw, and I've been a fan since.

Hopefully they'll release it in EU as well, otherwise I'll just have to import this!

EDIT: Btw, I sure hope they release an Executive Version! [0:00-1:11]

I watched this last night. It is a bare-bones disc with a solid, film-like presentation. In addition to a 1080p AVC video transfer, it has two LPCM 2.0 audio tracks (both English and Japanese). Finally, it has English and Japanese subtitles and the menu is English friendly.

Yeah, if I wasn't already picking up a Graveyard of the Fireflies BD from Amazon Japan, I would have probably waited for an EU release. I certainly wouldn't have waited beyond that for a US release.

Thanks for posting this Paul. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive from YesAsia but I'm glad to hear it's a good release. When you say solid presentation, do you mean 3.5 out of 5 or higher?

I think I'm gonna grab this when I place my next Amazon Jp order. If the PQ is fine, and it's English-friendly, it's probably gonna be about as nice as any subsequent European/UK/US edition. Lack of extras doesn't bother me too much since I don't think this has ever been released with a lot of them in the first place.

With more TV series getting the Blu-ray treatment, I wonder if we'll ever see Monty Python's Flying Circus get a restoration. It's definitely never looked very pretty on any of the DVD releases.

The television series was filmed on videotape and 16mm, so it probably won't come out on Blu-ray, but I imagine the BBC will release a remastered DVD like Blackadder and Fawlty Towers.

I had a feeling that might be the case; being filmed on tape that is. Aren't the current Flying Circus DVDs remastered? The remastered Fawlty Towers and Blackadder look quite nice on DVD, but they were made so many years after that.

I guess this And Now for Something Completely Different BD would probably be the nicest Flying Circus will ever look then.

Oh, yeah. The vast majority of it looks very good and, most importantly, film-like. There are some specs of dirt, etc. in places, but overall it is at least a 3.5.

There's one possibility with the TV show, that would be to issue a compilation of everything that was filmed on film (or several compilations), assuming they kept the negatives.

I say about 30% of the show was film, the rest videotape.
