No cover art of release date yet.

Not a fan of Johnny Depp myself, but every now and then I find a film with him in it I really enjoy. How did people find this one?

All the reviews so far have said it's pretty awful...anything with Johnny Depp w/weird accent (and occasionally lots of makeup) trying to be funny is usually very unfunny and best avoided imo...when was the last decent movie he did- Donnie Brasco, 20 years ago?

I really enjoyed it, but I do like all of Johnny Depp's films. I've pre-ordered this one.

I also enjoyed it, i found it very amusing, i'm not a hardcore depp fan but i respect his acting skill and have enjoyed a selection of movies he is in. Mortdecai is no masterpiece but it really doesn't need to be, its a just a bit of amusing entertainment, harmless and hilarious, plus having read the books, they combined quite a few good elements of each book into this one: The plot from the first book, the mustache conundrum from "the great mustache mystery" and the introduction of the krampfs from the second book. Of course some things have changed, johanna was originally Georgina's character in the book but now instead is a british wife of mortdecai, yes the film portrays her perfectly, and Georgina is in some respects a new character. One thing that was very well done was literally lifting scenes from the book, the bedroom one with johanna, the meeting with martland to name a couple. In truth its a pretty faithful adaptation. I also loved the retro score and the location transitions with giant lettering and map layouts. Sure it didn't take much seriously but anyone expecting an art film (no pun intended) from a book called "Don't Point That Thing At Me" is positively crackers!

I think it looks awful, but I'm interested in hearing what English people think of it (particularly the fake English accents).

I thought it was decent. Better than plenty of recently better received comedies. I laughed more than a handful of times during this one. It is very low brow and silly, but I don't really get all the hate for it. Perfectly neutral, average movie for me that provided some laughs, no big deal, not sorry I saw it.

So there are some people who enjoyed it then! Y'see, reading the comments on IMDB, a lot of people really like it and a lot of people HATE it. But it's a farce isn't it, in terms of the comedy style? Which of course may not be popular at all with modern audiences. I've read it harkens back to 60's and 70's style comedies which I enjoy. Either way, I'm blimin' curious to see what I think now.

I mean don't get your hopes up TOO high haha. I'd call it OK and mildly humorous, nothing more. A lot of the jokes fall pretty flat and it tries a little too hard to have a plot that just isn't that interesting. I just didn't think it was that bad either, and it made me laugh occasionally, so it was OK. But it isn't like, I dunno, the next Austin Powers or whatever.

I don't have really high hopes, but yeah, I'm looking forward to it out of sheer curiosity. Good to see some peeps quite liked it anyway.

Finally a fair and balanced review of this film that actually deals with content rather than the reviewer's own frustrated expectations. Certainly this film is modest at best, but it is likeable. It puzzles me as to why it failed to get a pass from critics when any number of similar or worse films didn't.

Well done Aclea!
