Default Twilightfan's HT Build

So this has been an ongoing project since about February. I'm a movie lover and my husband is a music lover - we had a downstairs bedroom that was about 12x20 (little less i think) that was being used as a guest room/whatever room.

A little over 2/3 of it is being used as the movie theater and the less than 1/3 in the back is being used as my husbands studio to write, record, mix. There is a closet which we aren't 100% sure about but we do know it will be holding all the blu-rays.

After the new walls were put up it has put the room at about 10.5 x 18.5. We used green glue for the drywall and the green glue acoustical sealant as well. Behind the painted red walls is normal insulation with the new drywall - the other walls at the front of the room and next to the red walls that have the recessed drywall just had ultra care denim insulation put in them over the weekend. Then we are going to build black velvet frames to attach to those walls. We still have to buy the wood and black velvet for those).

The carpet is being installed tomorrow which we are very excited about - who knew carpet could be so exciting.

We haven't attached it yet but last week the projector mount arrived:Peerless PRGUNV Precision Gear Universal Projector Mount - Black. So that will be put up in the next few days.

We also have 4 Black Progress Lighting P7103-31 Tri-Band Wall Sconces.

It's been a bit of a slow process because we have 3 little boys 1, 4 and 7 and my husband is a teacher and i'm a stay at home mom getting my Bachelor's so time is not on our side - but we are very excited as it all comes together. The kids are going crazy - the 4 and 7 year old keep asking when it will be done. They are dying to watch Cars 2 and Madagascar 3 in 3D.

Home Theater seating will be the last thing we get (still thinking about bldg a riser) - we will probably have some couches in there until we can find some we like - probably on craigslist - i've seen some nice ones for decent pricing - this will definitely come after the holiday - probably January/February if I can find a set i like that will fit.

Oh and even though my husband looked at me like i was crazy when i asked he did agree to build a concession stand - nothing insane (while I love insane -we just don't have the space) - i've seen some cute ones on here and on the web.

My next thing to buy is the Elite screen but i'm trying to figure out the difference between the EZ frame and the Sable frame since there is a $200 difference between the 2.

So far we have:

Epson 3010
2 Monitor Audio B2's
Monitor Audio BR LCR
4 Monitor Audio BRFX's
Onkyo TX-NR809

Apple TV
XBox 360
Directv HD DVR

To get:
SVS PB12NSD
Elite 110" Screen

Pics will start getting posted in a few mins.

Before pics

Walling up the door that used to lead to the bathroom from the guestroom

walls are coming down-

Tech Putty Pad

Green glue acoustical sealant

Ceiling

Back of the room:

Front of the room - screen will go here

Light switch for sconces

We are running the room off a 20 amp breaker we added - not pretty for now (you won't see any of it when we are done) but these are the wires running to the box.

Putting up the drywall .... this was not fun - one of the times i was helping to hold up the drywall while my husband attached it to the ceiling a piece fell on my head - was glad when this part was over

Ceiling is done.

more pics in a few

Final up to date pics ..... up til today from the last 1-2 weeks. Having the carpet installed today.

The area in between the 2 doors one to the theater room and the other
to the rest of the house. This is the part of the room that is angled
slightly so should be fun for the carpet installers today.

Starting to put in the ultra care denim insulation – had it shipped from
a Lowe’s in Texas – every other place on the web wanted to charge
twice as much for it plus twice as much to ship it.

Thank you! I love all your construction too - it looks great - a lot of work but it looks really great - wish we had a basement.
