Default Movie studios and blu ray

Why are these movie studios now suddenly backtracking on releasing TV shows on blu ray along with other movies? I mean is this like the new trend going into 2018. I don't understand what is wrong with Hollywood anymore.

Because they don’t sell enough on Blu-ray to be worth it, that’s why.

They don't have the patience to recoup their investment nor do they want to expend any effort. They've gotten accustom to instant gratification.

They don't even know what's wrong with themselves either.

I'll buy shows with fantasy sets or cool effects on blu-ray, like space shows for example. I'm not going to buy a sitcom like Friends on blu-ray. I can that kind of thing in HD by looking out the window.

Yeah I just bought 2 entire series for the wife on DVD. Obviously I would have loved to get them on BD but no luck, only a few seasons were available on BD. Having said that my all time favourite shows are already available on BD. I’m hoping Magnum PI gets a North American release date next year.

DVDs still sell better would be my guess as to why. My nearest Target for example won't restock the BDs once they're gone but they'll sure keep restocking the DVDs lol. I've also been to Best Buy on release day for movies like Logan for example & still saw a few people pick up the DVD over the BD.

DVDs take pennies to press while BDs still take a few bucks. That's why. I actually convinced a couple today buying Star Wars: The Force Awakens as a Christmas gift in Best Buy. They were asking each other what the difference in the BD/DVD/UV and DVD was as the price was the same for each. After some gentle nudging they went with the BD/DVD/UV.
