Default Cutting Class (1989) coming from Vinegar

We are finally ready to announce what is probably our best kept secret in some time; that we've completed a new 4k restoration of Rospo Pallenberg's star studded 1988 slasher, CUTTING CLASS, and will be issuing its 30th anniversary Blu-ray debut on Black Friday. What's more is that, unlike the old DVD which purported to be 'unrated,' but was in fact the much tamer MPAA 'R' version, our Blu is totally uncut.

To further commemorate the excitement of being able to watch sleaze-era Brad Pitt in HD, we've asked five of our favorite artists (Jay Shaw, Earl Kessler Jr., Derek Gabryszak, Chris Garofalo and Cody Brown) to each design a slipcover based upon their favorite kill in the film. Hence the 'Killer Covers of CUTTING CLASS' package.

As we did last year, we'll be having a flash preorder at VinegarSyndrome.com for the CUTTING CLASS slipcover package as well as our two Black Friday limited edition surprise horror Blu-rays. During the flash preorder event, you'll have the ability to order 'The Killer Covers of CUTTING CLASS' package with or without the two surprise horror releases. The stress-free flash preorder will take place over the weekend of October 19th-21st.

The 'Killer Covers' package will only be available during our flash preorder event: October 19th-21st. Individual slipcovers will be available for purchase during our Black Friday sale (complicated, huh?).

It's worth mentioning that any CUTTING CLASS slips left over after our Black Friday sale will be shredded (if there are any left to shred); this is a 100% Black Friday sale exclusive and no slipcover editions will be sold at conventions or by any other retailer.

Also, to be completely clear, the 'Killer Covers of CUTTING CLASS' package consists of:
(1) Blu-ray and (5) Slipcovers

Visit VinegarSyndrome.com October 19th-21st (EST) to place your preorder.

I am extremely excited to see the film. Definitely getting my preorder in at VS when I can.

5 slipcovers seems extremely excessive. It would be awesome if they were slightly bigger and fit over each other.

Like a Russian doll? That would be ridiculous. Then you wouldn't be able to buy them individually because they'd all be different sizes.

Stress free my ass! That's the day after Arrow's Halloween sale wraps up. That is a VERY stressful time on my wallet.

What if the five slip covers came together and formed an amazing robot that could fight intergalactic alien attacks?

I'll have to pop in my old Lionsgate DVD to see if I remember liking this movie. Oh, who am I kidding - this is a day 1 purchase. Coincidentally, who did VS license this from? Obviously LG lost the rights so my curiosity is piqued. According to Wikipedia, New World distributed the film so not sure how LG ended up with it. Could this mean that VS has access to the Lakeshore library?

Not bad. That would be pretty cool, but I'm holding out for one that can do do my taxes as well.

More Jill Schoelen on Blu is always a good thing.

I don't like any of the five slipcovers, so I'll just be picking up the standard edition whenever it's available.

Unless this is $40 next weekend, I'll order it. 5 slips is too excessive though.

In the early to mid 90s, Cutting Class used to play on broadcast TV sometimes on early Saturday/Sunday afternoons. I remember watching it multiple times growing up. I bought the DVD when it came out and watch it once every year or two as well. Really looking forward to finally seeing it unedited! I'm sure I have some sort of nostalgia connected to seeing this clouding my judgement, but it's by far and away not a terrible slasher.

So... no non-slip version?

Nevermind, just saw this...

Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait a bit. Those slipcovers are hideous, but then again, I don't really "get" Vinegar Syndrome's art design for their covers. I think they're going for sort of an off-kilter Criterion type of thing, but it just does not appeal to me at all.

I applaud the destruction of slipcovers. Kudos to Vinegar Syndrome!

Probably gonna get this, but not sure about 5 slip covers (also not a huge fan of any of them if they are what I saw on facebook).
Right now I just have a rip of the UK dvd, not sure just how uncut that one is. Regardless, HD sounds pretty ****ing good right now!

Funny story, shortly after meeting my wife/then girlfriend, we saw this on cable and it turned showtimemax into the "Brad Pitt scary movie channel". I had never heard of it prior, despite being a lifelong horror fan. Too bad there has never really been another "Brad Pitt scary movie" unless you count Seven. Even worse it's still the showtime channel without an HD counterpart on Comcast.

I think someone posted the website for the company that owned ice cream man and jack frost a while back and that cutting class appeared in their library.

Wouldn't mind it at all if Jill Schoelen was on the cover of one of those slips, but it's great nevertheless to see this fun flick make its debut to Blu-ray. Will preorder a six-pack for the occasion.
