Hi all

I have this blu ray - on a positive note it is better than the pathetic Echo Bridge release - which would not be difficult it has to be said. it is in the correct 2;35;1 aspect. For the most part the picture quality is good considering there are many scenes at night. Some scenes are troublesome like when Wahlberg first enters the yards to meet Caan for the job interview. Here definition gets a little murky with a smearing effect haloing around Wahlberg. Annoyingly while the audio is clear the English track is only in 2.0 dts hd - the Italian track is 5.1 dts hd. This release is by Eagle pictures and does have also the Studio Canal logo on the sleeve - Studio Canal themselves are soon releasing this title in France/Germany and the pre release info has listed a 5.1 English lossless audio track - If the German/French release is locked subtitle free i would suggest holding off for this release.

Just a quick word on the German/French release of The Yards by Studio Canal. It appears to be an identical transfer as the Eagle/Studio Canal Italy release. Mostly very good -
The German/French release wins easily having a 5.1 lossless dts HD track. Subtitles can be disabled through the disc menu. Like the Copland release the theatrical and directors cuts of the movie are included (although there is only 1 minute difference in running time). All the extras from the dvd ,which are missing from the Italian blu ray, are included.
