I'll start this here though given the anti-import sentiment competition from Amazon.com I guess it won't last long, but maybe some folks will follow it where-ever it gets moved to. I'm typing this on the fly so if anyone notices a significant typo let me know. If it's not significant, keep it quiet.
As usual Amazon UK is kicking the crap out of big brother with actual Bluray listings and deals (not hard to beat ZERO though). These are listed under the Cyber Monday heading, but so far this appears to be a clearing house from ongoing deals. I will amend the post if I find out more Amazon UK Lightning Deals These are all Region Free Blurays as far as I know -- there are more single movie items which usually don't have the greatest prices after shipping and tons of DVD, but unless you have Region Free/PAL capability I'll not list those with 2 exception. Their timing is hard to figure out, but I think everything I list will be Eastern Time. All times listed seem to be the public access (UK/EU Prime 30 min earlier) Prices announced usually at time the deal goes up NOTE TIME UPDATES- I think I have them all corrected now My apologies for all the confusion on times, but Amazon is making it really hard to get an exact time zone fix Tuesday Nov 24, 2015 7:40pm ET Iron Man 1-3 Wednesday Nov 25, 2015 4:40am ET -- best assumption (possibly 1 hr later) Arrow S1-3 £27.99 5:40am ET - the UK board suggest this goes live 10:40am London Time (5:40am ET) Star Trek The Next Generation Complete Boxset £59.99 6:40am ET Maleficent 3D £7.99 Planet of the Apes 5Movie £6.99 Universal Monsters Box £13.99 7:40Am ET The Coen Brothers Collection [Blu-ray] - note the movies differ a little from the US set £8.49 11:40am ET Breaking Bad Complete £34.99 Blacklist S1+2 £31.99 Vampire Diaries S1-6 £36399 Ripper St S1-3 (REGION FREE, BUT 1080i/50Hz -- check you player compatibility if you order) £22.99 (DVD) Doctor Who: Series 1 - 4 Collection(DVD) -- for those who don't want the upscaled and slowed down Bluray versions and Have PAL/R2 compatible players £27.89 12:40pm ET True Blood Complete Series £44.99 1:40pm ET Newsroom S1-3 £27.99 Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology 1989-1997 £6.99 4:40pm ET (actual start time -- no Prime Early access listed) Grimm S1-3 £22.99 There have already been very nice deals on HOUSE, MD Complete series for $50-60 shipped, The Complete (New) Battlestar Galactica (all 4 seasons, The Plan, Complete Caprica (1080i I think), and Blood and Chrome for a little over $100. The good news is UK tends to repeat deals later in the week/month for popular itmes and normally at the same price. Also Frozen 3D as well as Lion King and Beauty and the Beast have already happened once over the past few days. Shipping -- normally £3.08 for the 1st and £1 for each item if they ship them together (sometimes they will group daily purchases, sometimes not). Unless things have changed from the past the only thing different about UK Lightning Deals is the way the VAT is handled. Normally the built in VAT is subtracted after you start checkout. For LD the VAT is subtracted from the Original Price before applying the LD Final Price therefore in almost all cases the price you see is the price you'll pay + shipping (Everybody regardless of location pays the same price for the item). For those that haven't done international Amazon, 1) you can use your regular account and your account/address/payment info will follow you. 2) You can't use AmazonUS GC or Credits. 3) If you have a Capital One (or other for. currency exchange free card), make sure you check out in £(GBP) and save the Amazon 4% surcharge. If you have another card, I'd still suggest checking out in GBP since most CC charge 0.5-3% which is still less than the Amazon bump. Discover Card are not accepted unless something has changed in the last month 4) Shipping time is variable and can take anywhere from a week to a month especially at this time of the year, though the large majority of my items arrive in less than 10 days Last edited by hariseldon; 11-25-2015 at 08:37 PM. |
